The Mega Millions winning numbers and winners for March 22 are in. No one won the grand prize, and the jackpot has rolled from $30 million to $35 million. The next Mega Millions drawing will take place Friday, March 25 at 11 p.m. ET. All Mega Millions drawings are held live at the Atlanta, Georgia, lottery studio. The winning numbers are as follows: 6, 19, 34, 38, 70, and the gold Mega Ball is 5. The Megaplier is 5x. You can watch the video of the drawing as it occurred live last night in the player below.

As usual, people were excited about the draw, and lotteries across the nation used social media networks to stir up excitement about the draw.

As the Mega Millions jackpot continues to roll, more people are sharing their enthusiasm for playing the popular lottery game. Mega Millions is played in 44 states across the country, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $1 per play, making it the most affordable lottery jackpot game. Mega Millions’ jackpots always reset to $15 million following a grand prize win that consists of matching the numbers on all five white balls and the gold Mega Ball. Second-tier prizes consist of matching all five white balls without the Mega Ball. The prize for winning the second-tier prize is $1 million, and those who add the Megaplier option can multiply this amount by either 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5 times.

While no one won the grand prize, there was one match 5 winner in Wyoming who had used the Megaplier. This resulted in a win of $5 million and was also the first time anyone in the state of Wyoming had won such an amount. The official Mega Millions site released a press statement regarding the win. You may read it in its entirety below.

“Mega Millions’ newest participating lottery, Wyoming, got its first big winner in the game Tuesday night, as a whopping $5 million winning ticket was sold in the state. The ticket matched the five white balls drawn on March 22 – 6, 19, 34, 38 and 70, just missing the Mega Ball of 5. Because the purchase included the optional Megaplier for an additional $1, the ticket is worth $5 million after the 5x Megaplier was drawn.

“Wyoming is America’s youngest lottery, having launched in August 2014.

“It has been a lucky March for the Megaplier, with two other $5 million winners this month, one each in Florida and Ohio.

“Meanwhile, the jackpot rolls to an estimated $35 million for the next drawing on Friday, March 25. It was last won at $157 million in Washington on March 8.”

Although Powerball is officially the nation’s most popular lottery game, due to having substantial jackpots that roll quickly, Mega Millions offers an advantage when it comes to second-tier prizes. Both Powerball and Mega Millions offer multiplier features for an additional $1. However, Powerball caps all second-tier prizes at $2 million. Mega Millions doesn’t, as seen with last night’s $5 million winner. Powerball jackpots always reset to $40 million, and the largest known jackpot in history was the January 13 Powerball drawing for $1.58 billion. Mega Millions has produced several second-tier winners that surpass those of Powerball. The name of last night’s Wyoming winner has yet to be made public.

It wasn’t a quiet night for other Mega Millions either, as there was a total of 18 third-tier winners. Third-tier winners are those who match four of the five white balls plus the Mega Ball. The prize for the third tier is $5,000 and of the 18 winners, two used the Megaplier and increased their wins to $25,000.

Congratulations to Wyoming, as they have waited quite a while for someone to strike it big in Mega Millions.
