Bristol Palin Fires Back At Instagram Follower Who Mocks Her Brother, Trig

Bristol Palin is defending her baby brother on social media. Bristol came to the defense of her 7-year-old brother Trig Palin after an insensitive Instagram commenter posted an offensive comment on her page that compared Donald Trump’s supporters to people living with Down syndrome.

After Bristol posted a picture of Trig in honor of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21, the mean-spirited commenter focused on Trig’s hat and not the global awareness day, which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. In the photo, Bristol’s brother is wearing a knit Donald Trump hat with the Republican presidential hopeful’s slogan, “Make America Great Again.” Bristol Palin’s family has been Team Trump since publicly supporting the real estate mogul’s GOP bid in January.

According to Us Weekly, Bristol’s photo of her brother received a comment that said, “Yep that’s Trumps target demographic.” The nasty comment was accompanied by a series of laughing face emojis. It’s no surprise that the oldest Palin daughter did not think the comment was at all funny. Big sis Bristol fired back at the female poster, whose Instagram bio revealed that she is apparently also a nursing student.

“I wish I knew who you were, hope you don’t happen to be a nurse with any child with Down syndrome. You are pathetic.”

In addition to the Instagram tribute, Bristol Palin shared a special quote in honor of her brother on World Down Syndrome Day. On her Patheos blog, Bristol wrote that the day was a celebration for “those who have an extra 21st chromosome.” Palin also thanked her brother for helping her see life through his eyes.

“Trig Paxson Van Palin, thank you for all you do to help us see the beauty of life!”

While Bristol Palin put the Instagram troll in her place, this isn’t the first time a family photo of Trig has come under fire. Last year, Sarah Palin posted a picture of her little boy using the family dog as a step stool, Palin posted a series of photos to Facebook that showed Trig standing on top of their black Labrador pup in order to reach the kitchen sink. Palin captioned the photos of her youngest child with what she thought would be an empowering message.

“May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for ‘up!’, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.”

But Palin’s photos received thousands of angry comments—and she was even called out by animal rights group PETA. Sarah took to Facebook to post a lengthy retort to defend the photo, and the ex-Alaska governor even accused PETA of targeting her because she’s a Republican.

“Our pets, including Trig’s best buddy Jill Hadassah, are loved, spoiled and cared for more than some people care for their fellow man whose politics may not mesh with nonsensical liberally failed ways or don’t fit your flighty standards. Jill is a precious part of our world. So is Trig.”

Earlier this year, Bristol Palin posted a snap of her brother cuddling with her newborn daughter, Sailor Grace. It seems like the Palins love to post pics of their special boy, despite some of the inappropriate comments that sometimes come with it.
