‘Dancing With The Stars’ Jodie Sweetin Gets Advice From Candace Cameron Bure

Dancing with the Stars kicked off its season premiere on Monday night, and early favorite Jodie Sweetin is already getting some sound advice from her dear friend, Candace Cameron Bure. The girls grew up together on Full House and have remained close friends over the years. Now, the two are back together again on Fuller House, and with this new DWTS opportunity in Sweetin’s lap, it only makes sense for Bure to give her some advice. Why? Well, because Bure was also on the show a couple of seasons ago!

“Monday nights were really hard for [Cameron]. She kind of freaked out. [But] she told me to enjoy it,” Jodie Sweetin told Us Weekly backstage.

And Jodie listened to Cameron’s advice to get her through night one.

“I’m just getting out there and enjoying it. I said, ‘Keo, let’s go out, just you and me, and let’s have fun,'” Sweetin said — and that’s just what she did.

Jodie Sweetin and her dance pro partner, Keo Motsepe, danced the tango to “Confident” by Demi Lovato. Although Jodie and Keo didn’t score super high (they got a 20 out of 30), they really looked like they were having a blast — and that’s really what night one is all about. While things will get more intense as the weeks progress, the first night is a lot of fun, always complimented by jitters — but the best kind of jitters, ever!

“We went out and had fun, we did what we wanted to do. We watched videos of all our rehearsals and now we just watched the video back of tonight and we were really happy with it,” Sweetin said after dancing.

Jodie Sweetin hopes that fans vote for her to stay on the show for as long as possible, and she’s already got some things that she would like to work on.

“I was thinking like, ‘How do I get intensity to read big?’ It’s one thing to do it on film or a TV show, but it’s a whole other thing to do it in a ballroom in front of 900 people in a wide shot! So I think I was going for that, but I welcome any critiques and I want to do something different next week,” Sweetin said.

According to the report, Jodie Sweetin has already realized a few things about competing on Dancing with the Stars. She says that she had to take a step back and realize that she isn’t going to be a ballroom dancer overnight — but she is certainly determined to be in the top group of dancers if she can do so. It’s going to take a lot of practice and a lot of hard work, but Jodie Sweetin says that she is willing to put in the effort.

“We were in rehearsal and I said [to my fiance], ‘I want to look like Witney [Carson]! Or Peta [Murgatroyd]!’ And he was like, ‘Babe, they’ve been doing this for 22 years, the fact that you’re doing what you’re doing is amazing!’ So I had to take a step back and say, ‘Oh, OK!’ I’m hard on myself and I have high expectations. I love it, so I want it to look just right. I’m a huge fan of dance and ballroom dance, so I look at it and I say, ‘I want that!’ I’m willing to work hard to get it,” Jodie Sweetin said.

It certainly sounds like Keo Motsepe (finally) has a dance partner who could make it to the finals this season! Do you think Jodie Sweetin will go far on Season 22? Who is your favorite on Dancing with the Stars so far?
