Hilary Swank Gives An Inside Look At Her Engagement To Ruben Torres

Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank just got engaged and shared the happy news with her Instagram followers almost as soon as it happened. Ms. Swank revealed that her boyfriend and tennis coach Ruben Torres popped the big question earlier today. Hilary’s excitement could be felt as she shared the announcement in a caption to a photo that featured the first shot of her new engagement ring.

Today started out just like any other day for Ms. Swank. She headed out for a hike with Torres, unaware that the tennis pro had more in mind than taking in the scenery. The happy surprise couldn’t have happened more perfectly with Hilary responding just as positively as Torres had hoped.

As soon as she was able, Ms. Swank shared news of the engagement with her Instagram followers, alongside an image of her new ring.

“Went on a hike and this happened! I am so happy to share with you all this exciting and incredible news… the engagement to my dear Ruben!!! #Engaged”

It seems Hilary’s fans approve if the 7,000 likes she received on her announcement posting is any indication. Ms. Swank is very happy to be engaged to Ruben; this would be her first marriage, since divorcing actor Chad Lowe in 2007. Lowe and Swank were married for 10 years.

Mr. Torres, who works as a financial advisor and as a tennis coach at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, has been dating Ms. Swank since 2015. The couple has been publicly linked since Hilary and Ruben were seen holding hands at an Art Basel event in Miami Beach in December. Ms. Swank and Torres have been seen in each other’s company on a regular basis since that event and were most recently photographed together at this year’s Oscar ceremonies.

Last month’s Oscars drew attention for a number of reasons, but Hilary was only concerned with showing off the love of her life, who she had gushed about to her followers only days earlier. The couple enjoyed a romantic dinner at Ago restaurant in Los Angeles, before heading over to the 88th annual Academy Awards.

It was interesting to see Ruben step aside while Hilary accepted her time in the limelight. The Amelia actress dazzled amidst the camera flashbulbs in her silver sequined top and long, black skirt. Swank wore her hair down, letting it flow well beyond her shoulders.

Earlier that same week, Ruben celebrated his birthday and Hilary took the opportunity to share her love for him with her fans. On her Instagram account, the actress shared another picture of Torres and herself, which she captioned with a public birthday message for the tennis coach.

“Happy Birthday to my soulful, insightful, funny, handsome inside and out man! I love you and am blessed to be celebrating alongside you the day you were born.”

Professionally, Hilary Swank took an extended break from acting, due to her father’s illness. Now that her father is reportedly doing well and continuing to improve, Swank has returned to resume her Hollywood career. The actress is next slated to perform in an animated children’s film, Spark. Swank will voice The Queen in the story of Spark and his friends, Chunk and Vix, who are charged with saving their world from the evil warlord, Zhong. Patrick Stewart, Susan Sarandon, and Jessica Biel are also featured voice performers in the film. Aaron Woodley (The Entitled, The Wager) will direct.

Spark is scheduled to be released later this year in theaters.
