‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Robert Adamson Off Contract And Bumped To Recurring Status–Who’s Next?

It looks like Sofia Pernas (Marisa) and Lachlan Buchanan (Kyle) are not the only actors to get bumped off contract statuses on The Young and the Restless. Daytime Confidential reported that Robert Adamson (Noah) was bumped to recurring status, and you won’t believe the reason for the change. Apparently, according to the news report, the cause for the change was a lack of storyline.

It doesn’t seem like much of a newsflash for most Y&R fans after seeing how Sofia Pernas was bumped off contract last week. When you think about it, they often share scenes, and most of their storylines are intertwined. So it makes perfect sense that if one were bumped, you could bet the other will be too. So what does that mean for Marisa and Noah Newman’s pending nuptials?’

CBS revealed that Sofia Pernas was taken off contract due to budget cuts, and it had nothing to do with her current (boring) storylines. The fans are supposed to believe that not even one week later, her co-star and the one she shares most of her scenes with is bumped off contract, but his reason is a lack of storyline? That seems pretty unlikely, doesn’t it?

Soap Central confirmed Robert Adamson was bumped to recurring and off contract. There is so much that The Young and the Restless could do with the character of Noah Newman. Think about it; he is Sharon McAvoy (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) son. He could have gotten married or even went to work for his family’s company, Newman Enterprises. Instead, head scribe, Chuck Pratt’s answer was to take him off of contract and not utilize his character.

With all the characters leaving the fold, it’s hard to see how Y&R can continue for much longer. The writers are no longer using the veteran characters. Last week, Sofia Pernas announced she is filming a pilot and was released from her contract with Y&R. On Friday, Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) announced on social media that he was going to be seen very little over the next few months. Jess Walton (Jill Atkinson) had an important part in Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) recovery; however, since he woke up, she’s been missing. Now, the fans are supposed to believe that Jill left Genoa City, moved to Japan, and gave her son her home? The Young and the Restless is losing and under-utilizing many veteran actors over the inability to write engaging storylines.

The Young and the Restless was quick to point out that even though Sofia (and now Robert) have been bumped off contract doesn’t mean they will be leaving the show, at least not yet–they will continue to appear from time to time. Many Y&R fans don’t buy it either, considering that was the same thing they said about Lachlan Buchanan in November when he was bumped off contract and only seen a couple of times since. On Friday, Lachlan took to social media to announce his departure from the soap opera. So, it looks like the show will either scrap the character of Kyle or try yet another recast of the character.

The Young and the Restless has yet to confirm his contract bump, so, for now, it is unconfirmed. If Noah receives less scene time, will he end up marrying Marisa? Or, is it possible that she will receive jail time for her role in destroying the evidence, and Noah just disappears, only to show up at family functions.
