‘Bates Motel’ Season 4 Episode 3: Norman Struggles, Norma And Sheriff Romero Marry, Dylan And Emma Attraction Undeniable? [Sneak Peek]
Bates Motel spoilers tease big drama is ahead for Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore). At the end of Episode 2, Norman was admitted to a mental institution as he became too much for his mother to handle, alone. Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) told Norma (Vera Farmiga) that he would marry her so Norman could be added to his health insurance. Dylan (Max Theriot) begins to question his feelings for Emma (Olivia Cooke) and wonders if they have what it takes to make it for the long haul.
A&E released the promo video for Season 4, Episode 3 titled “Til Death Do You Part” which showed Norman extremely upset while he tried to adjust to life inside the mental institution. It becomes apparent that he doesn’t think he belongs there and starts badgering his mother about how long he has to stay. In one scene, he is (clearly) upset when they take his belt away from him. The nurse aid advises him that they don’t allow anyone a belt, not even the staff, because it’s “safer.”
Bates Motel spoilers indicate that Norman calls home and begs to come back, promising Norma he will not do “bad things.” Like a good mother, she tells him that he can return to the motel when Dr. Edwards (Damon Gupton) tells him it’s okay. That leads to a bizarre conversation with his new doctor that concerns him. He loses his cool when he talks about his mother, stating that she does terrible things and wants to pin it all on him. At first, the doctor is under the impression Norman is trying to push the blame to Norma; however, the more he talks, the more the shrink believes he could be telling the truth. Will Dr. Edwards believe him?
Also on Bates Motel, Norma and Romero will marry at the City Hall so Norman can get health insurance and finally get the help he needs. They walk out of the City Hall with their marriage certificate (ink barely dried) in hand, and Norma expressing her excitement that her son will be able to get quality psychiatric care. Romero advises her that he will be coming by later after work to drop off his stuff.
Bates Motel spoilers indicate that Norma says to Romero, “I’m sorry…your what? I thought…I figured we weren’t living together?” Romero shows up later at her house with his bag in hand. It’s apparent that their relationship will get pretty complicated when Norman is released (or escapes) from the mental institution.

IGN shares a few Bates Motel spoilers about Emma and Dylan’s storyline. Apparently, Emma’s lung transplant has given her a real future — one without needing oxygen or worrying about dying. Now, Emma’s future is bright, and Dylan fears that her future may not include her. Dylan knows he loves her and wants a life with her, but he needs Emma to want that as well.
“Obviously, Emma’s a little bit younger than Dylan, and at this point, her future is a little brighter. He’s questioning where he stands, and will there be a future? At the same time, there’s this sort of connection that the two of them have that is undeniable.”
Bates Motel spoilers hint that Dylan and Emma will end up together after she accepts the second chance she has been given. For Emma, the lung transplant has changed her life, and while it’s a welcomed change, it is still something that she has to get used to. The spoilers hint that in the end, they will end up together and possibly become engaged.
