Mariah Carey Bans Fans From Touching Her During Concert Meet & Greets [Report]

Mariah Carey has allegedly banned from touching her during meet and greet opportunities on her current Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour around the U.K.

According to a new report by the Sun, Carey allegedly has some very strict rules when it comes to what fans can and can’t do during meet and greet sessions, and an insider is revealing touching Mariah in any way is supposedly on the banned list.

A source revealed to the site this week that British fans of Mariah, who paid around $700 for a meet and greet opportunity, were given strict instructions prior to meeting Carey and were told that hugging or touching the “Touch My Body” singer were strictly a no no.

“There were strict instructions for fans. No kissing, touching, grabbing or hugging Mariah,” the inside source alleged to the Sun, “It’s crazy that fans are paying that much money to meet Mariah just to be told they can’t even give her a hug.”

The insider clarified that Mariah “was allowed to touch fans” if she wished, but noted that all those heading into the meet and greet session “were told by bodyguards they weren’t to touch her.”

But while some fans have supposedly been left upset over the no touching instruction, the site’s insider admitted that Carey’s most dedicated followers are “very respectful” of Carey’s wishes. “Most of them are just so excited to meet Mariah they haven’t cared too much about the fact they have to keep their distance,” the source claimed, “But a few fans have been grumbling that it’s a bit unfair.”

Reports that Mariah’s fans, who she affectionately calls “lambs,” have been asked not to touch the superstar during meetings comes just days after the Daily Mail reported that Carey left fans in Leeds, England, enraged after she turned up 45 minutes late for her own show.

According to the site, Carey was booed by fans when she eventually took to the stage almost an hour late on March 17 after a slew of fans took to social media to blast Mariah for her lateness.

“The crowd has started booing. I’m not the only one! #MariahCarey #firstdirectarena #leeds,” Mariah fan @lianne_herbert tweeted from the show, while @MarkLevine7 wrote on the social media site, “Never ever heard anyone boo here at Leeds Arena. But it’s happening now. Mariah is 30 mins late now. #mariahgate”

Twitter user @hotlineblanco, who was also at the show joked about Carey’s time keeping, writing “Mariah’s probably backstage at Leeds First Direct Arena drinking tea like ‘dahhling, the British can wait’ whilst she gets a pedicure.”

But despite reports that Mariah’s has been angering fans around the U.K. with her diva behaviour, if Carey’s social media posts are anything to go by, it appears the pop superstar has been enjoying her first tour of Britain in more than 12 years.

“Thank you #Lambs for your photos from the #sweetsweetfantasytour! I [love] you!!” Carey captioned an Instagram collage of photos from her tour stops on March 19, adding “#fanfriday.”

It’s thought that Mariah’s time across the pond is being captured for her upcoming E! docu-series, Mariah’s World, which Carey confirmed has begun filming in a statement last week.

“I’m excited to bring my fans into my life for the next journey I’m about to embark on,” Mariah revealed of her upcoming TV series, which is expected to run for eight episodes on the network later this year. “I’m already having so much fun with this documentary and I know you will too. There is nothing like capturing these moments,” Carey added.

What do you think of Mariah’s alleged “no touching” rule? Will you be tuning in to Mariah’s World?
