Reese Witherspoon Turns 40 With A Huge Birthday Weekend Celebration

Reese Witherspoon turns 40 on Tuesday, but she celebrated a few days early with an action-packed weekend celebration. The award-winning actress got her own girl squad together and partied it up in Hollywood, complete with a celebrity packed birthday party.

Witherspoon and her girlfriends took lots of mementos, as shown on their Instagram pages. Witherspoon posted a birthday selfie on her Instagram on Saturday, wearing a sparkly top as she sits inside a black caravan that whisked her and her family to their destination, as reported in Us Weekly. The actress added the caption, “Happy Saturday y’all!!! #BirthdayWeekend.”

Witherspoon also posted a short clip of herself asking her mother Betty if she’s going to go crazy on the dance floor. The actress played up the SnapChat clip with a disco ball animation on top, and drawn-in sunglasses that go back and forth between Witherspoon and her mom as the clip shows the two of them enjoying their time while being chauffeured to the birthday party.

Reese Witherspoon, along with her husband Jim Toth and her mother, hired three black SUV limos to drive her and her family to the party spot Warwick in Hollywood. Many of Witherspoon’s celebrity friends rocked up to the party to help the Legally Blonde actress celebrate her birthday.

Celebrities such as Laura Dern, Conan O’Brien, Chelsea Handler, Robert Downey, Jr., Tobey Maguire, Courteney Cox, Isla Fisher, Matthew McConaughey and Justin Theroux were at the private party. Naturally, Witherspoon’s good friends Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson were at the birthday lady’s side, with Hudson capturing several moments that are now on her Instagram page.

Hudson did a photo collage of Witherspoon’s party moments, along with the caption, “When you take a s**t load of pictures and you still don’t have it perfect so you go for the ole collage post…Happy Birthday gorgeous girl.” Hudson also added hilarious hashtags like #ImSoExcitedToGetIntoBedIDontEvenKnowWhatToDoWithMyself and #NotWashingMyFace.

Taylor Swift, who was also at the star-studded birthday party, jumped up on stage at one point in the night to sing her hit song “Shake It Off” to serenade Reese Witherspoon, according to USA Today. Witherspoon also decided to do an impromptu performance, with the help of Keith Urban, as she sang “Sweet Home Alabama,” which is also the title of the 2002 movie Witherspoon starred in.

Derek Blasberg of Vanity Fair filmed a clip of Witherspoon singing the famous Lynyrd Skynyrd song, with Urban playing guitar in the background. Blasberg added the caption, “You can take the girl out the South, but you can’t take Sweet Home Alabama out the girl! HAPPY BIRTHDAY.”

This won’t be the only time that Reese Witherspoon sings. The actress is lending out her voice for the animated comedy musical Sing, which has a December 21, 2016 release date. The upcoming flick also stars Matthew McConaughey, Seth MacFarlane, John C. Reilly, and Scarlett Johansson.

It wasn’t constant partying for Witherspoon this weekend. The actress kicked off the weekend with a mountain hike with her mother Betty, her dog, and her two children, Ava Phillippe and Tennessee Toth. The family hiked around Los Angeles to get their exercise for the day.

Witherspoon also has another comedy project in the works. The actress will star in the upcoming HBO series Big Little Lies that also stars Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, and Alexander Skarsgard.

The limited cable series is created by David E. Kelley and is based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Liane Moriarty. Witherspoon will play the character Madeline in the TV series, which started filming back in January. No official air date has been released as of March.
