Chachi Loves Donny: Scott Baio Endorses Donald Trump For A ‘Simple’ Reason

Actor turned reality star Scott Baio endorsed Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump on Saturday. What better network to announce the endorsement of this particular candidate than on Fox? During Fox News’ Justice with Judge Jeanine, the 55-year-old actor revealed to the show’s host, Judge Jeanine Pirro, that he’s 100 percent throwing his support behind Trump.

Best known for his roles as Chachi Arcola on Happy Days and its spin-off Joanie Loves Chachi as well as Charles in Charge, Baio also appeared on the TV series Diagnosis Murder and Arrested Development.

Once a Republican, Baio revealed he has left the Republican party because he’s “fed up” with them because they haven’t been honest and now identifies as a conservative independent; however, his new political affiliation doesn’t mean he’s going to be voting for a Democrat anytime soon.

“I’m fed up, I’m done with them, I’m done with the Republicans. They’ve lied and conned and BS’d me for a very long time now and I don’t even consider myself Republican anymore. I’m a conservative independent.”

Baio said he likes that Donald Trump is a political outsider compared to the other Republican candidates. Baio believes this is exactly what Washington needs and his reasons for supporting Trump are very simple.

“It’s very simple, because when he speaks I understand him,” Baio told Pirro. “He speaks like I speak, he communicates with people very well. I want him, as any one person can do, to go into Washington and blow it up.”

Scott Baio also believes Trump is the right candidate to “relentlessly” take on Trump’s likely challenger, Democrat Hillary Clinton, according to the Wrap.

“Listen, they’re going to attack whomever the Republican nominee is. We need somebody to relentlessly, relentlessly attack Hillary. It’s the only way we’re going to win. This getting above the fray and not getting in the dirt and ‘We’re better than that,’ it doesn’t work anymore. I’m trying to be a classy guy, but to win elections nowadays, the Democrats and liberals attack viciously.”

Scott Baio joins a long list of celebrities who support Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency. Those celebrities include Ted Nugent, Jon Voight, Kid Rock, Aaron Carter, Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson, Stephen Baldwin, Gary Busey, Dennis Rodman, Mike Tyson, Hulk Hogan and Wayne Newton.

While Baio is one of the celebrities who have endorsed Trump, there are also many celebrities who have spoken out against Trump, including Johnny Depp, Louis C.K., Miley Cyrus, George Clooney, John Oliver and Judd Apatow, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Back in 2012, Baio endorsed Mitt Romney for president. Last year, he endorsed Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker for president, but Walker ended up dropping out of the race early, causing Baio to redirect his support elsewhere.

At the time Baio tweeted, “Gov. Walker sounds a lot like President Reagan.”

Not long after Baio announced his endorsement of Trump, CNN reports Baio started trending on Twitter, which caused Twitter users to think he had either died or there was a Joanie Loves Chachi remake in the works. Once the news of Baio’s endorsement spread, some people welcomed the actor to the “Trump train,” while others expressed their disgust and outrage that he would support someone whom many see as a racist, misogynistic liar.
