‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7: Julie Plec On Steroline – Can Stefan Salvatore Make Things Right With Caroline Forbes?
The Vampire Diaries season 7 will not return until April 1, but TVD fans have not stopped talking about the popular TV series. Like with many other television shows, there are fans who “ship” certain couples. When a storyline results in a scripted romance ending, viewers tend to get upset. This is exactly what happened with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Caroline Forbes (Candice King) aka “Steroline” on The Vampire Diaries. Showrunner Julie Plec discussed the future of Stefan and Caroline. Is there a chance of a future for Steroline?
As previously reported by Inquisitr, the synopsis and an extended promo clip for the next episode of TVD have both been released. The Vampire Diaries season 7, episode 16 is titled “Days of Future Past.” The press release didn’t reveal any information on Caroline Forbes. However, Spoilers Guide did state that Rayna (Leslie-Anne Huff) is close to catching up with Stefan Salvatore. Just like with the synopsis for “Days of Future Past,” The Vampire Diaries extended promo clip for season 7, episode 16 focuses primarily on Rayna, Stefan and Damon Salvatore.
Steroline fans hoping to see Caroline in The Vampire Diaries when it returns may be disappointed. Showrunner Julie Plec told E! News that Candice King‘s maternity leave resulted in Caroline Forbes being left out of TVD for a total of four episodes. Plec said that Caroline will return to The Vampire Diaries by the season 7 finale.
On the last episode of The Vampire Diaries, Stefan saw Caroline and Alaric with their Gemini twins. He saw how happy and family-like they were “playing house” and decided that was the end of their relationship. So, does this mean that Steroline is over? In her blog on EW, Julie Plec revealed that when The Vampire Diaries returns, viewers will find out how Stefan and Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) ended up together. Well, that doesn’t sound good for Steroline fans.
However, just because Stefan is moving on with Valerie, doesn’t mean the two will stay together. Hopefully, Steroline will find their way back to each other in The Vampire Diaries. It turns out that there might be some good news regarding this TVD couple.
“There is no peace right now and after three years of living a relatively normal life, she and Alaric have huge decisions to make about: Do they stay away from these people that used to be their friends, does she go into hiding without him, will they get married, will she ever talk to Stefan again? There’s a lot of great, great conflict coming up,” Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly regarding Steroline‘s future in The Vampire Diaries, “as we try to figure out if Stefan is going to be able to make things right with her.”

Based on that statement, it sounds like Stefan might try to fix things with Caroline. However, will Candice King’s character in The Vampire Diaries give Stefan a chance or will it be too late? There is no doubting the intense love, passion and chemistry between Stefan and Caroline. But stability and staying close to the Gemini twins is just as important to Caroline. The couple has gone through too much for their relationship to just end in The Vampire Diaries. Even if Caroline moves on with Alaric, fans hope that one day Steroline will find their way back into each other’s arms.
