Will Ferrell, Russell Brand and Jason Segel are among the stars being featured in a series of portraits commissioned by Disney.
The portraits, done by famed photographer Annie Liebovitz, feature the stars in a variety of classic Disney settings, the Associated Press reported. The images are part of the Disney Dream Portrait series, which was unveiled Wednesday by Disney Parks.
The ongoing series will feature other well-known celebrities taking on the role of famous Disney characters, the Disney Parks Blog reported.
Portraits released Wednesday show focused on characters that originated in Disney’s parks, the blog pointed out. In one portrait, Russell Brand stars as Peter Pan’s arch nemesis, Captain Hook. He has narrowly escaped the jaws of the hungry crocodile that has hunted him for years.
The caption for the Disney portrait reads, “Where every minute leaves you hungry for more.”
The other Disney portrait focuses on the Haunted Mansion attraction. It has Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel as Phineas, Ezra and Gus, known to Disney fans around the world as the Hitchhiking Ghosts. The Disney Parks Blog notes that the caption for the portrait reads, “Where you can go on the ride of your afterlife.”
Will Ferrell himself is having a busy week. Aside from the portrait release, he is working the publicity circuit for his upcoming movie “The Campaign,” in which he plays an incumbent member of Congress in a heated election against a quirky newcomer played by Zach Galifianakis.
The Will Ferrell portrait and other future Disney portraits will be featured in a special insert in fall issues of GQ, O – The Oprah Magazine, People, People En Español, Vanity Fair, Real Simple, Essence, and InStyle.
