Haydn Peacock: Rugby Player Suffers Partially Torn Penis After Brutal Tackle

In a manifestation of every man’s worst fear, a rugby player had his penis partially torn off during a brutal tackle.

Haydn Peacock was playing during a French Federation of Rugby League Elite 1 match in February when one of the St. Esteve Catalans Dragons (UTC) players attempted to tackle him by grabbing his genitals and pulling him to the ground.

Peacock didn’t immediately know anything was wrong. The rugby player certainly didn’t imagine that he was sporting a partially torn penis.

He described the incident in an interview with Guy Williams, a sports journalist and former rugby player. Williams now runs a blog dedicated to the French rugby league called, French Footy.

“I’ve never really had any big injuries playing [rugby]… Oh, when we played UTC the other week their centre pretty much ripped my [penis] off. He made a tackle by reaching out and grabbing my [penis]. Have you seen the photo? It’s a classic. They put it on the front page of the paper. I took the ball off the scrum and made a half break, and their centre has come across from the inside and reached out in a last ditch effort and has got a hold of my [penis] with one hand and pulled me down. There’s a photo of me screaming in pain, and I finished out the half.”

As Peacock stated, he suffered through the pain and finished out the half of the game. According to the rugby player, however, “the pain was alright.” Somewhere between the chaos of the rugby game and the heightened adrenaline, Peacock didn’t realize just how badly his genitals had taken the punishment.

At halftime, the rugby second rower finally decided he had to have a gander at whatever damage might have been done.

“I checked on it and the skin is half ripped off and I was like, ‘Sh*t, where’s the doctor? Where’s the doctor?’ They had to go and get the UTC doctor and he came in and checked it out and he was like, ‘Oh man, you’re going to have to go and get stitches,’ so I had to go to the clinic that night and they had to put 11 stitches around it to put the skin back together. I showed all the boys and they were pissing themselves laughing. In all of my career I’ve never heard of anyone having anything like that happen – 11 stitches in the [penis].”

Despite suffering a partially torn penis, Haydn Peacock had no intentions of taking any time off. In fact, he played in the next game.

The coach of his rugby team suggested, strongly, that he start wearing a cup. Peacock refused. The rugby player insisted that wearing a cup caused him to slow down during a match and that was just unacceptable to him.

Instead, Peacock simply strapped his penis up, to try to ensure there wouldn’t be a repeat.

“I remember I had to strap it all up for the next game. I just had to go around it. The coach wanted me to go out and buy a cup but I’m not going to play with a cup, I’m not going to be able to run. I just had to heavily strap it. It’s all good (now). I got the stitches out and it’s all sweet. No dramas.”

Peacock may be all right talking about his partially torn penis now, but that’s after the stitches have come out. When the incident first occurred, he posted a picture of the brutal tackle to Instagram. He noted that rugby was not a sport he would recommend.
