Ben Affleck ‘Furious’ With Jennifer Garner For Dishing Nanny Affair: Superhero Actor Hypes ‘Batman’ Amid Backlash

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are experiencing a “new normal,” achieved only after going through the drama of their divorce announcement. And although rumors as to precisely what caused their breakup continue to swirl, both Ben and Jen have changed their focus to their family, a source told People.

“It took months for Ben and Jen to figure out a new normal,” explained the insider. “Both Ben and Jen seem very focused about what’s good with their family.”

For Affleck, that means taking on the role of daddy to Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7 and Samuel, 4, with renewed devotion while promoting his movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition, Garner and Ben are scheduling a Europe family vacation because he is filming Justice League there.

Does this mean that they could rekindle their romance?

“There’s no sign they’re getting back together,” added the source.

Moreover, Garner has been shockingly candid about her reasons for divorcing Affleck, pointing out his dramatic mood swings.

“I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”

As to whether that comment irritates Ben, an insider told People that he accepts her criticism.

“It was all fair,” claimed Affleck.

Ben is dealing with the continuing divorce drama while literally flying around plugging his superhero movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, set for release March 25, noted the New York Times.

For Affleck, choosing to play a superhero role comes with a big price, because some fans were horrified that Ben was chosen to slip into that famous costume. Moreover, the timing of the Batman v Superman announcement coincided with the divorce revelation from Jennifer and the actor, resulting in rumors ranging from cheating to his personality issues.

“It never seems like a great time to have your privacy invaded,” pointed out Affleck. “Obviously this is a particularly hard time.”

As to why Ben was chosen for the Batman role, director Zack Snyder reflected on how he initially was searching for a worthy opponent for Superman.

“I wanted a Batman who had been Batman for 20 years,” revealed Snyder. “A war-weary Batman.”

And that brought the director to Affleck.

“When you start thinking about the actors in that range, we came to Ben pretty quickly,” admitted Snyder. “He’s a big guy. I’ve always been a fan of a large Batman.”

Whether Affleck will come off as the larger-than-life superhero that some envision, Ben himself painted a very different version of Batman.

“He’s living in this gray zone. He’s more broken, not slick. He’s filling the hole in his soul with these increasingly morally questionable nighttime excursions — fighting crime as well as by being this playboy.”

Among those who will definitely be on Team Ben Batman is Affleck’s 4-year-old son Samuel.

“He knows that I am Batman,” admitted Ben. “It’s a mixed blessing. He also thinks that for some reason — I don’t know if it’s the color combination or whatever — that the FedEx guy is the Joker.”

And that gets expensive for Affleck.

“Whenever there’s a FedEx delivery, he’s like, ‘Dad, the Joker’s outside.’ The burden’s on me to go out there and give the guy an extra 20 bucks to pantomime a whole Adam West kung fu battle,” joked the dedicated dad.

While Ben is candid about his kids, he remains less so about the problems in his marriage to Garner.

However, behind the scenes, Affleck is fuming about what Jennifer revealed in a recent Vanity Fair interview regarding his alleged affair with the family nanny, an insider told Radar Online.

“Absolutely furious,” summed up the insider with regard to Ben’s feelings about Garner. “The Vanity Fair interview sent him and his team over the edge. He feels like she completely attacked him and can’t believe she confirmed the nanny affair story.”

The “story” comment refers to how Affleck allegedly had a secret hook-up with Christine Ouzounian, the nanny of his and Garner’s children.

“Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives,” declared Garner.

An Affleck insider revealed that Ben worries their children will one day see that interview.

“It was a passive aggressive move. She basically confirmed he slept with the nanny and he’s a d**k, but she still loves him,” revealed the insider.

Because of the publicity needed for his superhero movie, Affleck feels that he can’t really respond.

“He is furious, but can’t do anything until after his movies come out,” pointed out the source. “His people are just so mad. Everyone in his circle is on the outs with Jen now, too.”
