Erica Wang, Jilted Fiancee Of Todd English, Flees To Hong Kong After Allegedly Stealing $52K Worth Of Ralph Lauren Swag

Erica Wang became famous to the internet in a way that no one ever wants — after she was ditched at the altar by celebrity chef Todd English — and now another incident of infamy will haunt the famously jilted bride after she allegedly admitted to stealing more than $50,000 from Ralph Lauren.

It was back in October of 2009 that Erica Wang’s tale of heartbreak captivated the internet, when after a few days of quiet, her fiance English called to tell her he couldn’t move ahead with the $150,000 wedding the pair had planned.

Undeterred, Wang went ahead with the six-figure fete — although she was also forced to pay up for many of the expenses, move out of the Chelsea apartment she shared with the restaurateur, and faced the loss of her job as English’s assistant. After the spectacle, Wang told the New York Post:

“An animal wouldn’t treat another animal the way he has treated me,” said Wang, wearing sunglasses to hide her puffy eyes. “He is forgetting I am human. I don’t deserve this. He has caused me, my friends and family so much pain.”

At the time, English admitted to the Post that he’d behaved cadishly:

“I am deeply saddened and remorseful for the cancellation of the wedding and any embarrassment that it caused to Erica, her family, my family and our friends. It was never intended this way, but our relationship has not been positive for some time.”

Now Wang is on the run, after the shoplifting incident brought her back into the public eye. According to the Post, the jilted bride was caught red-handed lifting an astonishing $6K worth of items from the Ralph Lauren store where she was employed — and admitted to stealing an additional $40K+ more in the past.

Wang was released on her own recognizance Friday after her arrest and arraignment, where she’d been charged with Grand Larceny. Per the paper, she jetted off to Hong Kong following the incident.
