Ariana Grande Ready To Star In Superhero Movie [Report]

Ariana Grande is allegedly making plans to take the lead role in a superhero movie.

Hollywood Life is reporting that Ariana Grande has recently set her sights on the big screen for her next big career move and is supposedly looking to channel her inner Angeline Jolie with a Lara Croft-esque role in a major motion picture.

“Ariana wants to do movies,” a source close to Grande revealed to Hollywood Life of Ariana’s big plans to show off her acting chops beyond her past TV roles, “she wants to do a better-critiqued version of a film that would loosely follow her career but make it more acclaimed than panned.”

But don’t expect Ariana’s supposed upcoming movie career to follow in the same vein as some of Grande’s fellow pop stars like Mariah Carey and Britney Spears.

“She doesn’t want it to be Crossroads or Glitter,” the source told the site of just what Grande is envisioning when she makes her debut on silver screen, revealing that Ariana would instead “love to do a superhero movie” in Hollywood.

“She knows Wonder Woman has been taken but she would love to be a female heroine, even Lara Croft would be awesome to do in her eyes,” Hollywood Life’s source said.

As Ariana is getting worldwide recognition for her show-stopping voice and hits like “Problem,” “Focus,” and her newest hit “Dangerous Woman,” it’s easy to forget that Grande initially got her big break as an actress on the Nickelodeon series Victorious back in 2010.

Ariana then appeared in a number of other Nickelodeon series’ before landing her own series alongside Jennette McCurdy in Sam & Cat from 2013 until 2014.

More recently, Grande returned to the acting world for a role in the Ryan Murphy-produced horror comedy Scream Queens in 2015, during which time Ariana admitted in an interview with Extra that she “missed” acting following her musical hiatus.

“It’s very nice to have a break for the usual and do something completely different,” Ariana told Extra of her return to acting with Scream Queens last year. “It’s a complete 180, it’s really fun.”

“I want to do more, I want to stay,” Grande continued, admitting to the site that she hadn’t actually planned on returning to acting when Ryan Murphy asked her to join the Scream Queens cast but decided to join the cast because she “missed it so much.”

“I didn’t really plan on it, it just sort of fell into place,” Grande said. “I feel like… I’m, sort of, wanting to do a little bit more now.”

Ariana Grande also opened up about her plans to return to the acting world during a recent sit-down with V magazine, although she confessed that her heart is still with her voice if she had to make the choice between being a pop star and being a movie star.

“It’s a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be,” Grande said of the acting side of her career last year, “because usually… I like acting, but I don’t like it as much as I love singing. When I showed up for my first week on set, I didn’t even want to leave. It was so much fun! It’s more than I thought it would be and I love it.”

Grande also revealed that she plans to do a little bit of everything in her multi-faceted career, citing Barbra Streisand, star of Broadway, movies, TV, and music as one of her biggest inspirations.

“Barbra Streisand’s career is definitely one that I would like to aim toward, just because she did everything! I want to be able to do everything. I mean, she’s Barbra Streisand!” Ariana said.
