Jennifer Garner Opens Up On The ‘Today’ Show About Making Her Family Work Post Split With Ben Affleck

Jennifer Garner might have been paired with her 12-year-old co-star of Miracles from Heaven during the general press for the film, but when Garner stopped by the Today Show, it seemed like she was more open to discussing the difficult decision she and husband Ben Affleck made to divorce.

Garner’s solo performance was the first time on the Today Show since her appearance in March of 2015, when she was promoting the film Danny Collins. During that appearance, the mom of three broke down in tears, while discussing her Southern Living photoshoot with her two sisters and her mother, and how wonderful it was to get dolled up with her family.

Back then, she excused the tears due to her mother’s declining health, but it might have been because she was on the precipice of a break up with husband Ben Affleck.

A year later, and Garner made her return to the Today Show, and even though she’s experienced a shift in her life, Garner seemed confident and settled. Sitting down for an interview with Savannah Guthrie, Garner seemed touched when Guthrie said, “So many people just adore you, Jennifer, and I think they just want to know how you’re doing. If they could give you a hug, I think they would.”

Jennifer Garner responded by smiling, while explaining that she and estranged husband Ben Affleck are working together for their family unit.

“Oh, that’s very kind. People have been so kind to my whole family, and we really do appreciate it. But, you know what, we’re doing really well. Thank you. The kids are great. They’ll be getting up and going to school soon, and Ben is there and he’ll be taking them. We will make it work.”

While on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ben Affleck who’s promoting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, spoke to Ellen about their difficult time.

“We’re good friends and we’re doing our best and our kids are fabulous and we’re working our best for them and that’s … What are you gonna do?”

These statements echoed earlier reports that the two are in a very good place right now, as they continue to move forward working at their family. At the time, a source told E!, “They are in a really good place right now. A lot of the dust has settled and they have become accustomed to their new life, which is separate but together in a lot of ways. They continue to make the family their first priority and they have always been on the same page about that.”

Since announcing their intention to split Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have been on family vacations together, and are often photographed together with their kids, whether it’s going on errands or attending church services on Sundays. It doesn’t seem like much has changed from their arrangement. The two even live under the same roof, which Garner told Vanity Fair, works for them. There were rumors that the two put their Pacific Palisades mansion up on the market for a whopping $45 million, but Garner insisted that this is not true and they’re staying put.

Recently, Affleck opened up about Garner’s Vanity Fair article, where she said he can cast a shadow, while also referring to him as the love of her life. While he was reluctant to talk about it, Affleck said that she was allowed to talk about the split, and she felt that it was something she needed to get out in the open so she didn’t have to talk about it again.

The two have three children together, Violet, 10, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 4.
