Kate Hudson Opens Up About Motherhood

Kate Hudson is a busy lady these days, with her acting career still on fire and an activewear brand that has seen constant growth and expansion called Fabletics. All this and the beauty still remains as hands-on as possible to her two sons.

In an interview with Sunday Style as the Daily Telegraph relays, the 36-year-old opened up about life with her sons, 12-year-old Ryder and 5-year-old Bingham. A topic of discussion involved the star’s refusal to spoil her two boys, saying that she thinks it’s imperative to teach her sons the importance of hard work and world issues as opposed to sheltering and spoiling them.

“I think it’s important for them to know what’s going on around them, other than what happens in Los Angeles, without protecting them from the atrocious things going on in the world at the moment. ‘They don’t take anything for granted…We say, ‘You didn’t work for any of this, and guess what? It’s not yours.'”

The discussion about her boys and her manner of raising them came after Kate shared a story of her own star mother, Goldie Hawn, and her insistence that Kate work and make her own money to pay for her first car. It was clearly a tactic to teach Kate the importance of hard work and making her own money.

As for caring for her boys and spending time with them, Hudson is all about being present and taking on the full role as mom. She shares how it’s only when she cooks for Ryder and Bingham that they’ll eat.

“The truth is that with kids, at least in our family, when Mum cooks, they’re going to eat, So that forces me to cook a lot, even when I don’t feel like it. It was the same with my mum, we loved her to cook for us.”

As for what food her kids like her to cook most, Hudson says it’s a no-brainer.

“They love my pasta, and now you can buy a really good gluten-free type.”

It’s only natural that the ultra-fit star would choose the healthiest form of pasta for her boys. Hudson has experienced her share of turmoil over the years in regards to relationship, as the Daily Mail relays.

“Kate married front-man for The Black Crowes, Chris Robinson in 2000 before divorcing in 2007. The pair share 12-year-old Ryder. Three years later she began dating Muse singer Matthew Bellamy and became engaged to the musician 12 months later. They welcomed their son Bingham three months later. But their romance soon fell apart with the pair announcing their separation in late 2014.”

Although the split was tough at the time, Kate assures that she and her ex, Matthew Bellamy, are closer now than they ever were and have a very amicable manner as well as similar views while they co-parent their 5-year-old son.

The Kung Fu Panda star spoke with Red magazine on the issue of co-parenting with the Muse singer.

“Matt and I really worked on it together and we came to the point where we realised that we are really better as friends and that is a healthier approach for our kids. And we can see the results…. we chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives. We go back and forth between London and LA and both of us [Hudson and Bellamy] like both places, but we also reside in the countries that we were born in. We just make it work.”

It seems as though Kate has got a good thing going between her career in acting and fitness wear, as well as from a personal standpoint. It also is commendable that she seeks to be such a presence in her children’s lives.
