‘Dancing with the Stars’: Jodie Sweetin May Have What It Takes To Win The Mirrorball

Dancing with the Stars begins Season 22 in less than a week and Jodie Sweetin of Fuller House is set to show off her moves. International Business Times spoke with Jodie’s professional dancer partner, South African Keo Motsepe, recently and found out that Sweetin is quite the dancer! In fact, Keo thinks that with Jodie as his partner, he may go further in Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars than he has in any previous season.

The first time this Dancing with the Stars pro saw Jodie Sweetin dance was in the Fuller House episode in which she and Val Chmerkovskiy, another DWTS pro, cut a rug in a Fuller House episode. Chmerkovskiy plays Sweetin’s boyfriend in the Netflix series. Check out the dance scene Motsepe is referring to.

Who knew Stephanie Tanner could dance? Keo was impressed!

“I saw [Val] dancing with Stephanie [on ‘Fuller House’] and I was like, ‘Wow, she can dance. I wish she would come dance on the show. That would be awesome if I could dance with her.’ And it just so happens that she’s my partner this season.”

Jodie and Motsepe hit it off from the first time they met for their first Dancing with the Stars practice. Keo says that typically the person you’re paired with just wants to meet and talk when they’re first introduced, but not Jodie. Producers came to Motsepe before he met with Sweetin and told him that she wanted to have their first Dancing with the Stars practice on the same day. The pro was impressed again! And excited that she was so eager to jump in and get started.

He was blown away again when he got to dance with her. He told IBT that once he danced with her, “I knelt down on the floor and was like, ‘Yes! God, thank you!’ ”

Adding to the Dancing with the Star pro’s enthusiasm for Season 22 is his confidence that he and Jodie can break his “week 3 curse.” Keo has been on the show since 2014, but has never made it past Week 3 on Dancing with the Stars. He and Sweetin fully believe this is the year that changes.

Motsepe wouldn’t spill anything about what he and Jodie Sweetin have planned for the first week, but he did share that he is especially looking forward to Latin week and Disney week in this season of Dancing with the Stars, because they will give him an opportunity to do something really creative with his partner. Will he and Sweetin dance to the Fuller House theme song this season? He was tight-lipped on that question, but said it was a possibility.

Jodie Sweetin talked to E! News about her decision to be part of this year’s Dancing with the Stars and what the experience has been like so far.

Many people are picking the duo to go far in, and possibly win, this season of Dancing with the Stars. The reason? Well, most of us know Jodie Sweetin for her role on Full House and Fuller House, but she has a lot of dance experience. As a child, Jodie’s mother owned a dance studio and she started dancing as a child. Her professional Dancing with the Stars partner will help her sharpen her skills, but we can tell from her dance with Val on Fuller House that Sweetin does have a talent for dance!

Outside of Dancing with the Stars, Jodie Sweetin is engaged to Justin Hodak and has two children, 7-year-old Zoie and 5-year-old Beatrix.

Dancing with the Stars Season 22 premieres on ABC on Monday, March 21, at 8 p.m. ET.
