Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Reunite On ‘The Voice,’ But They’re Currently Spending Time Apart

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton reunited on The Voice last night, and they couldn’t resist engaging in a little flirtatious behavior while Gwen fulfilled her new role as Blake’s adviser.

Gwen Stefani had to vacate her coach’s seat for this season of The Voice, but a determined Blake Shelton didn’t give up on his dream of getting his girlfriend back on the show in some capacity. When the “Sangria” singer was asked to choose an adviser for his team, he jumped at the chance to work with Gwen. As E! News points out, Gwen and Blake couldn’t hide their “crazy chemistry” last night, when they partnered up to help Team Blake prep for the Battle Rounds.

“I knew you were coming back for Season 10,” a beaming Blake told Gwen.

However, back in December, Blake Shelton didn’t sound so certain that Gwen Stefani would be returning to the show. During an interview with Extra, he complained about Christina Aguilera replacing Gwen. However, he didn’t say that he wanted to keep Christina off of the show. Instead, he argued that The Voice should have five judges.

“I don’t [want] Gwen to not be on the show—why can’t we have a fifth coach?”

NBC hasn’t invested in the installation of a fifth chair on the Voice set just yet, but the network did find a way to make Blake Shelton stop whining about Gwen Stefani’s absence. Some viewers might hold the opinion that Gwen wasn’t a great choice for Blake’s adviser, because his team is pretty loaded with country singers, and country music definitely isn’t Gwen Stefani’s area of expertise. However, Blake pointed out that Gwen’s previous experience as a coach on The Voice is invaluable — she already knows what the Battle Rounds are and how to prepare for them.

“She knows what it takes to win this thing,” Blake said.

Gwen responded to Blake’s praise with a little friendly ribbing about how much he needs her.

“I would love to help you, because I think you need a lot of help, Blake,” Gwen quipped.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Blake responded.

Gwen was also able to help Blake feel a bit more comfortable with the non-country singers on his team, Brittney Lawrence and Paxton Ingram, and Blake definitely needed her aid when it was time to talk fashion. Gwen briefly chatted with Brittney about the importance of choosing the right footwear and the effect an outfit can have on how the audience perceives an artist. Blake must be pretty relieved to have someone who knows clothes on his team. While they were discussing fashion, Blake joked that he dresses like a “guy who just got done working on his car and ran in here to do The Voice real quick.” He also describes himself as “Dennis the Menace” in the video below, but Gwen thinks he looks more like a “super babe.”

Speaking of clothing, Gwen Stefani is currently getting her fashion fix over in Japan. Women’s Wear Daily reports that Gwen attended the Keita Maruyama show during Tokyo Fashion Week, and she was extremely excited to be there.

“I just feel like I’m in a dream right now,’ the “Misery” singer said.

According to Beacon Street Online, Gwen Stefani also got all dressed up in a gorgeous green kimono for a MasterCard Priceless Japan commercial. As part of a promotional deal with the MasterCard travel platform, Gwen is set to perform a private concert in Tokyo on Wednesday.

While Gwen Stefani is obviously enjoying herself in Japan, she’s also missing Blake Shelton and her three little boys. Blake hosted the Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, and Gwen was really bummed that she couldn’t be there. According to Us Weekly, two of her sons, 7-year-old Zuma and 2-year-old Apollo, actually attended the event.

“Omg I love social media = wish I could be there too,” Gwen tweeted.

Luckily, she was able to watch the event via FaceTime. She shared the photo below that shows Zuma taking fashion cues from Blake with his denim vest and cowboy boots.

Gwen Stefani’s new album, This is What the Truth Feels Like, drops on March 18, and the “Make Me Like You” singer recently landed the perfect gig to promote her record. Entertainment Weekly reports that Gwen will be the musical guest on the April 2 episode of Saturday Night Live. As you can see, Blake Shelton is really excited about this news.

Gwen Stefani could also use her appearance on The Voice to promote her upcoming album, but so far, she’s been too busy trying to help Blake win to plug it. You can check out Blake talking about how much he enjoys getting work with Gwen in the Voice digital exclusive below, and be sure to tune in the NBC show tonight at 9 p.m. ET to see more Gwen and Blake.
