Cindy Crawford And Daughter Kaia Gerber Land Vogue Paris Cover

Kaia Gerber, 14, inherited her mother Cindy Crawford‘s stunning good looks and modeling ability, and it’s landed her her first Vogue Paris cover. She poses right alongside her mother, Cindy, and the resemblance between mother and daughter is uncanny. Both Cindy and Kaia are blessed with a mane of thick dark hair, perfect smile, and slightly unruly eyebrows. It’s no wonder Gerber received her first modeling contract with IMG Models when she was still just 13-years-old.

Kaia tweeted her excitement over being on the cover with her iconic 80s supermodel mom, Cindy Crawford.

“What is life?!! I honestly can’t breath right now. A million thank you’s @vogueparis and @mariotestino!”

According to People, this isn’t the first time Kaia Gerber has posed alongside her famous mom. Kaia was photographed last summer with Cindy and her brother, Presley, during a vacation in Ontario, Canada. There’s no question from the photographs that Crawford and her children, Kaia and Presley, are ridiculously photogenic.

Crawford has in the past expressed concerns over her daughter being able to handle the cut-throat modeling world. Cindy knows what it takes to be successful, but she also understands the modeling world has changed drastically since the 80s. She hopes Kaia will not succumb to the ultra-thin standard of models today.

“Today, models are expected to be so tiny and I worry about that for her, because that was never my natural body type and I don’t think it’ll be hers either,” Crawford tells Net-a-Porter’s the Edit. “Still, I’ll say to her, ‘Enjoy carbs while you can!’ Kaia’s blossoming into such a beautiful young woman and I really want to let her shine. I don’t want her to feel in competition with me, although I’ll tease her, and say, ‘You have my old hair — give it back!’ Or, ‘Give me back my legs!’ But she’ll be fine … She’s much more together and worldly than I was at her age.”

Cindy also admits modeling in 2016 is much harder than it was in the 80s. You now have to have that “triple threat” factor, and be diligent in social media. With 406,000 followers on Instagram alone, it appears Kaia has the hang of social media.

“They had better learn to sing and act, too, because it’s not really enough to just be a model anymore,” Cindy told the Edit. “Anna Wintour was the one who started the trend of putting celebrities on covers and in the big campaigns. Then everyone followed suit, so now they want stars like Kendall Jenner and Taylor Swift. They want people with a following, and social media has helped because models like Cara [Delevingne], Coco[Rocha] and Gigi [Hadid] can have their own voices and talk to fans directly. There are more pathways available to them than we had.”

As for beauty tips from Cindy, Kaia says it’s all about the eyebrows.

“My mom does mine because I know I would go tweezer-crazy and wind up with no eyebrows at all,” Kaia told Teen Vogue. “I love the look of full brows that aren’t perfectly done—eyebrows on fleek, that’s the goal. My eyebrows are like Miley—they can’t be tamed, even with brow gel.”

Kaia may have the eyebrows, but she did not inherit her mother Cindy’s signature mole. Yes, the mole that early on almost derailed Crawford’s modeling career. Cindy had been told numerous times to have it removed, but had always refused. Cindy’s mole became famous in its own right, and was seen by women everywhere as a sign “different was beautiful.”

Although Kaia Gerber isn’t sporting the mole, landing the cover of Paris Vogue alongside Crawford proves she’s making her own mark in the modeling world.
