The Hobbit Trilogy Confirmed By Peter Jackson

Here we go again! The Hobbit fans can now rejoice and celebrate, for its been confirmed that director Peter Jackson will be adding another two films to The Hobbit saga, making it a dynamic trilogy.

Those who are wondering just how Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, and all their little friends made their way into The Lord of The Ring series, will now have a prequel to that series explaining their origins with The Hobbit. According to director Peter Jackson’s Facebook page, the book The Hobbit, which was penned by J.R. Tolkien is said to be split up into three films for the movie going audience to devour.

Peter Jackson wrote to his dedicated fans via his Facebook page to make the announcement official, stating:

We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance,” Jackson continued. “The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.”

You could hear Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit enthusiasts scream with glee when Jackson added: “So, without further ado and on behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, and the entire cast and crew of “The Hobbit” films, I’d like to announce that two films will become three.

It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, “a tale that grew in the telling.”

Are you excited about the next two chapters in The Hobbit? Do you think Peter Jackson should have stopped with The Lord of The Rings?
