Nick Jonas And Pharrell Williams Ready To Close American Idol Deals

Now that Jennifer Lopez has officially been replaced by Mariah Carey on American Idol, the question on everyone’s minds is who will replace Steven Tyler? And if two judges are leaving Idol, does that mean Randy Jackson will leave American Idol too?

Well, the latter looks highly likely, as it’s said that musician Nick Jonas, and N.E.R.D. rapper and hip hop producer Pharrell Williams are both very close to signing deals that would see them judge the 12th season of American Idol, which would make host Ryan Seacrest the only remaining regular to appear for all seasons of the show.

Nick Jonas, who as of late has turned to acting on Broadway and making several guest appearances on the silver screen is said to be a frontrunner alongside Pharrell Williams, who took careers to the next frontier producing hits by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

One insider of the Idol show says, Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge. They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings.” It is said that Jonas recently wrapped his four-month stint in Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and according to the source close to American Idol production, “[American Idol producers] think he can help bring that younger demo to the show.”

Meanwhile, Pharrell Williams is still looking to close his contract with 19 Entertainment and American Idol. The source says, “Everything is looking good, but they’re still working out details.”

If all goes well this could be a huge facelift for American Idol, which for the first time in its 11 seasons missed out on an Emmy nomination for best reality series. Past judges include Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres, Steven Tyler and of course, Jennifer Lopez.
