‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 — Ian McShane Defends Giving Away Spoilers, Says It’s Just ‘T*ts And Dragons’

Game of Thrones has done a great job at keeping Season 6 spoilers to a minimum. Luckily for fans, Ian McShane has come to the rescue with yet another spoiler about the upcoming season. While McShane has since come to his own defense, what newest bit of information did he leak?

According to Newsweek, McShane recently let spill that his new character plays an important role in bringing someone back from the dead. Unfortunately, McShane didn’t reveal the identity of this character, which left many fans hopeful that he was referring to Jon Snow or even The Hound.

In response to all the commotion his comments generated, McShane took a defensive stance in an interview with the Telegraph. For the most part, McShane tried to play down his comments while admitting that they had caused quite an uproar online.

“You say the slightest thing and the Internet goes ape,” McShane stated. “I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a f***ing life. It’s only t*ts and dragons.”

As if this wasn’t enough, McShane’s spoilers did not stop there. In fact, the Pirates of the Caribbean star went on to reveal that he only agreed to be on the hit fantasy series because he would get the chance to work alongside Charlie Dance (Tywin Lannister) and Stephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon). However, McShane revealed that both characters have been killed.

Tywin’s death is a well-known fact, although Stannis’ fate was left open at the end of last season on Game of Thrones. Based on McShane’s comments, however, it would appear that Stannis is truly dead. Because both actors are no longer a part of the series, McShane admitted that he was unsure about going through with his commitment.

“I wasn’t sure whether I could commit, but then they said it would only be for one episode,” he shared in the interview. “So I said, ‘So that means I must die at the end of it. Great, I’m in.'”

McShane is expected to play the role of a priest in Season 6. Although McShane has stated that his character is a former warrior who now belongs to a peaceful group of tribesmen, many fans believe his character is based on the Elder Brother.

In the books by George R. R. Martin, the Elder Brother is a religious character who is introduced in Book 4, A Feast for Crows. While it isn’t known for certain, there is an indication that the Elder Brother has ties with the Hound, who was killed back in the fourth season of Game of Thrones.

According to Express, it isn’t clear if McShane’s character will bring back the Hound of Jon Snow in the upcoming season. While the actor did not reveal which character he would nurse “back to life,” he did offer a hint at which character it might be.

“Hmm, I’ll leave you with that one, I think you might guess which one it is,” McShane stated after being asked if it was Snow or the Hound. “It’s not the latter. It might be the former.”

At this point, it isn’t clear which character McShane is set to bring back in Season 6. Considering how his character might have ties to both Stannis and the Hound, there is a good chance that McShane helps one of them make a return to Westeros. Of course, many fans are hopeful that it turns out to be Snow, who met his own surprising end during the Season 5 finale.

The highly anticipated Season 6 of Game of Thrones is set to begin on April 24 on HBO.
