Jennifer Lawrence And Her Relatability Mocked By Ariana Grande On ‘SNL’

Jennifer Lawrence has pretty much always been known for her ability to come off as the girl other females want to be like, and guys want to hang out with; she’s a global superstar, thanks to her roles in huge franchises like X-Men and The Hunger Games, but she’s also the clumsy girl next door who has embarrassing moments and enjoys eating as much as the rest of us. It’s exactly those qualities that earned her a pretty spot-on impersonation by Ariana Grande over the weekend when she hosted SNL, and even though it was in a sketch that mocked her gently, it’s clear that Grande is a fan who did her research.

Grande took on Lawrence’s choppy blonde bob and elegant wardrobe for a Celebrity Family Feud sketch in which she kept telling the host how much she’s just like everyone else, much to the amusement of the audience.

Ariana wasn’t picking on Jennifer; she seemed to be having fun in the sketch, showing off her impersonation skills. She also took on impressions of Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Celine Dion not long after showing off her talents on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she played “Wheel Of Musical Impressions” and wowed him with her Dion.

Grande released her new single, “Dangerous Woman,” over the weekend after dropping several teasers for it on social media. The star kept fans intrigued with Instagram posts, including one that made a reference to Wonder Woman.

Ariana was also the musical guest on Saturday’s episode, and some viewers wondered if maybe pulling double duty took a toll on her as she struggled with her wardrobe during a musical number and let loose a curse word during the opening monologue. However, Grande’s appearance definitely had people talking on social media, and not just because of the things that went wrong.

Ariana is certainly accustomed to keeping a busy, tight schedule; the former Nickelodeon star said in a recent interview that although she has switched to a vegan diet and feels healthier all around, her career has been so non-stop that her rest — and therefore her health — has taken a hit.

“I’ve been going non-stop for seven months. I haven’t slept in about seven months. So that’ll probably do it as well,” Grande told the Telegraph.

Ariana also wasn’t shy about talking about her friend Miley Cyrus, who makes a lot of headlines for being the absolute opposite of her former Disney Channel character, Hannah Montana. The star says that while Cyrus takes a lot of heat for being a bit wild, she thinks it’s a thing to “be celebrated” in a world full of people who don’t stay true to themselves out of fear of repercussions. Grande pointedly referred to some backlash she got recently when she posted a photo on social media, saying some fans understand that she’s grown and changed over the years while some seem to take it as an insult when she does something out of character.

“I love her so much. She’s a beautiful soul…She’s so authentic, and so unapologetic. It’s great. She’s so happy. That’s something to be celebrated. People get mad at her for being herself. But she’s happy. And they are probably not,” Grande said. “I posed in a cute outfit with some kitty ears on and with my middle finger flipped up and posted it on my fan page and my fans were like, ‘YES GIRL! OK!’ A lot of my fans have grown up with me. But at the same time, a lot of people were like, ‘She’s changing! What’s happened to you?’ I’m like, ‘It’s just a pic, y’all. I’m still the same old me. I’m just posing in a cute way!'”
