‘Pretty Little Liars’ E.P. Marlene King Says Alison’s Secret Will Change Everything

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Pretty Little Liars.

Pretty Little Liars returned to season 6 with a new murder mystery and a new villain, but the series showrunner, Marlene King, says this Tuesday’s episode may change everything. The PLL executive producer says Alison (Sasha Pieterse) will expose a secret that will change the entire show, past and future.

Pretty Little Liars Will Be Forever Changed, According To Marlene King

“Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars” will be the 20th and final episode of the season and the Pretty Little Liars showrunner says everything will be coming to a head for the girls. The stalker amps up the game, threatening to kill them all, if they don’t expose the killer by the election, so Toby (Tyler Blackburn) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) double their efforts to catch Sara Harvey (Dre Davis).

The big drama in this Pretty Little Liars season finale comes in an Alison story arc, however. While the plot summary for the episode suggests that Ali may be losing her touch on reality, confusing visions for actual events, Marlene King adds that a huge secret concerning Alison will be revealed. Ms. King also says that a twist to the twin storyline will come to light, so it seems likely the secret may have something to do with the DiLaurentis family.

In a real life twist, some of the Pretty Little Liars fans are calling King out for deliberately trying to mislead them with false teasers. Instead of responding directly, the PLL showrunner said the secrets to be revealed on the finale will change the entire storyline of Pretty Little Liars.

Some PLL fans suspect that it will turn out that Jessica DiLaurentis, Ali’s mother, has a twin sister of her own. This seems likely, particularly since King has said she utilized the twin story arcs as a way if paying homage to the Sara Shepard books, which are the source books for the Pretty Little Liars television adaptation.

King also dropped a hint that there may still be hope for Emily and Alison, aka “Emison.” When Twitter fans asked her to expand on the teaser, Marlene clammed up, saying Pretty Little Liars fans will have to be sure to catch the finale.

What Else Can Pretty Little Liars Fans Look Forward To In “Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars”?

King has spent a considerable amount of time on Twitter, teasing the upcoming season finale. Another aspect of the episode that will be of interest to the Pretty Little Liars shippers is the developing romance between Spencer and Caleb. Actually, to be more accurate, King said there will be a major surprise for Spencer-Toby shippers.

Does this mean there’s yet hope for Caleb and Hanna? Are the PLL writers finally going to put all of these relationships back on track? King wouldn’t say, reverting back to her standard “watch the episode” response.

“Spoby fans should watch next Tuesday. LIVE babies,” Pretty Little Liars‘ King wrote. “Next Tuesday is the beginning of the end. Buckle up, b—-es. It’s the ride of your life. #TwinOnPLL #PrettyLittleLiars #FianleFever.”

Mentioning that twin again, this time in hashtags, caught the eye of many of Marlene’s Twitter followers, stirring up a new round of questions and comments. In an effort to appease at least some of her Pretty Little Liars fans, King said that the twin had, in fact, already been seen. She added that one scene in particular was a dead giveaway to the new twin twist, though she wouldn’t elaborate in which episode that scene aired.

The Pretty Little Liars season finale, “Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars,” airs on Tuesday, March 15, on Freeform.
