The season pass also gives players instant access to two more downloadable content packs arriving in the future. Meanwhile, gamers who are planning to get XCOM 2 DLC as a standalone purchase can avail it for $4.99. A Steam account is required to be able to download the full game and “Anarchy’s Children.”

Aside from revealing a few details about XCOM 2?s release, Firaxis also announced the launch of a major patch for the game. According to a post on Steam Community, the recently released performance patch brings in new fixes and balance tweaks. XCOM 2 players should also expect various performance optimizations that aim to enhance “frame rates and in-game delays overall.”

According to the patch notes, a problem with shadow rendering which causes delays in performance was fixed. Also, to improve the game performance, the latest patch took away MSAA options from the default presets. It also “adjusted autodetect to target 40FPS instead of 30FPS.” Upon installing the patch, XCOM 2 players should also notice that the character head mesh has been optimized. Support for AMD Crossfire and Nvidia SLI were added as well.

A new game option called Zip Mode was also introduced. To activate it, gamers can pause the game anytime and enable it from the gameplay options. Accordingly, Zip Mode creates a “faster-paced experience” that speeds up animation and shortens delays. For multiplayer mode, the patch is also providing a fix for issues on slow communications with online plays that consequently result to delays in turns, actions and more.

The XCOM 2 patch should automatically install once gamers start their Steam client. If it fails to do so, players need to restart Steam. Once the patch is installed, players need to manually rewrite the graphic settings. To do so, players should head to Options, look for Graphic Tabs and choose “Auto Detect Graphic Settings.” Moreover, those who have mods need to launch the game after patch installation, close it and then open the game again.
