Donald Trump Racist? John Legend Aims Nasty Tweet At Trump’s Son

Is Donald Trump racist? John Legend sure seems to think so. The very outspoken “All Of Me” singer decided to take aim at the republican presidential candidate by way of Donald Trump Jr., sending him a fire-starting tweet in response to something he posted. According to the Mirror, the response started a bit of a Twitter feud.

Check out the original exchange below.

Donald Trump Jr. wasn’t about to let that remark go without fighting back in support of his father. Although he didn’t engage John Legend directly, he did make sure to call the singer out, grouping him with other liberals whom he feels use the word “racist” whenever they hear something they don’t like.

Interestingly enough, John Legend got hosed down by Trump supporters, and the media has been pretty harsh on him as well. Legend, However, didn’t seem to be brought down in any way. He continued to poke at the situation, tweeting out the following messages to his 7.6 million followers.

Donald Trump Jr. has left well enough alone at this point and hasn’t engaged John Legend since this all went down on March 11. Legend, however, tweeted a couple of times yesterday and doesn’t seem ready to back down. He and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, have been known to speak out on controversial issues in the past.

In 2014, Teigen took a hiatus from Twitter after she posted a controversial tweet about a shooting in Ottawa. According to People Magazine, Teigen received death threats after making a comment regarding gun control.

“Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, Wednesday,” Teigen wrote. “Sorry you don’t understand that is a knock at America and our issues with gun control. No one is minimizing the Ottawa shooting. It’s been awhile since I inadvertently pissed a ton of people off. Forgot how much it sucks,” she added.

A short while later, Teigen announced that she’d be leaving Twitter and focusing on Instagram instead.

Donald Trump certainly brings out strong opinions in people, and it’s no surprise that John Legend has spoken out and voiced his own opinion, especially if you’ve followed him over the years.

Last year, Legend made headlines for a boycott on the Beverly Hills Hotel. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Legend took a stand in support of women and of the LGBT community and ditched a party that was thrown in his honor after learning about the hotel owner’s stance on certain policies.

This decision, unlike Legend’s Donald Trump bashing, was widely praised.

“John Legend will not be attending the L.A. Confidential party at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday, February 5th in light of the horrific anti-women and anti-LGBT policies approved by the hotel’s owner, the Sultan of Brunei. These policies, which among other things could permit women and LGBT Bruneians to be stoned to death, are heinous and certainly don’t represent John’s values or the spirit of the event. John does not, in any way, wish to further enrich the Sultan while he continues to enforce these brutal laws,” said Legend’s rep, Amanda Silverman, at the time.
