Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Get Dolly Parton’s Approval, Flirt On ‘The Voice’ [Video]

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have earned a stamp of approval from a very special lady—Dolly Parton recently revealed that she’s on Team Shefani! Dolly had nothing but kind things to say about Gwen Stefani after meeting her during the last season of The Voice, and the “Jolene” singer doesn’t think that Blake Shelton is so bad, either.

According to Taste of Country, Dolly Parton shared her thoughts about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s surprise romance during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. Even though the Cali girl and the cowboy come from two totally different worlds, Dolly gets why they got together.

“I think they look great as a couple, and they’ve both been through similar things,” Parton said. She was referencing the fact that Gwen and Blake went through divorces around the same time.

Dolly Parton met Gwen Stefani for the first time when she visited The Voice last season to sing “Coat of Many Colors.” The country music icon said that Gwen “seems very sweet,” but don’t worry—Dolly Parton isn’t going to throw Blake’s ex-wife under the bus simply because she likes the new lady in his life. She reassured country music fans that she also has plenty of love for Miranda Lambert.

“But I love Miranda also!” Dolly said. “They are all good people and I wish them all the best.”

Dolly Parton isn’t the first musician to talk about how great Gwen and Blake are together. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Pharrell Williams called their relationship a “miracle.” Gwen and Blake fell in love right underneath his nose last season on The Voice, but the “Happy” singer claims that he was oblivious about their romance until Blake Shelton texted him to inform him that Shefani was officially a thing.

Many fans of The Voice were probably a bit bummed when they learned that Gwen Stefani wouldn’t be a coach on this season of the singing competition—Shefani fans are missing out on a lot of flirting now that Christina Aguilera is back in Gwen’s seat. However, Blake found a way to get his girlfriend of almost four months back on the show. Even though he’s a little bit country and Gwen is a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, Blake asked the “Misery” singer to be his team’s adviser for The Voice Battle Rounds.

In The Voice clip below, Blake Shelton introduces his girlfriend as a “rock ‘n’ roll goddess diva” and a “living legend.” However, Gwen Stefani has a hard time taking him seriously—she responds by rolling her eyes and saying, “Whaaat?”

As you can see, Blake tries to claim that he didn’t just ask Gwen to be his team adviser because he wants to spend more time with her.

“If anybody understands what a Battle Round is, it’s somebody who’s been a coach,” Blake says.

The Voice Battle Rounds begin next week, so viewers can look forward to seeing more of Gwen Stefani on the show. Shefani fans might notice that the “Make Me Like You” singer is a bit uncomfortable working with her boyfriend’s team, but they shouldn’t get too worried—Gwen still likes Blake. She was just felt like she was a bit out of her element because her boyfriend has so many country singers on her team, and country music isn’t exactly her area of expertise.

During a 97.1 AMP Radio interview with The Voice host Carson Daly, Gwen Stefani also hinted that being in love with Blake made their working relationship a bit awkward.

“It was hard, Carson, I have to say!” Gwen Stefani confessed, according to E! News. “I was so excited to come back, but being that there was three layers of things: Working with any other coach, you’re going to be a little nervous and insecure because it’s not your team. You don’t want to step on anyone’s toes. So, there was that. Then on top of that, I’m not country and there was a lot of country artists and [Blake’s] super country. He’s like the king of country. You know what I mean? I’m out of my world. And then on top of that, the obvious stuff.”

You can see how Gwen Stefani does as Blake Shelton’s adviser when The Voice Battle Rounds begin Monday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
