‘The 100’ Renewed For Season 4: Theories On Clarke, Arkadia, The Grounders And Will There Be A New Villain?

The 100 was renewed for season 4 as well as several other popular CW network television shows. Showrunner Jason Rothenberg celebrated the news on Twitter. The announcement comes a little over one week following the death of Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey) on The 100.

The CW post-apocalyptic series is in its third season, so predicting exactly what is going to happen in season 4 is a bit difficult. However, there are some theories on what the future holds for Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and the other characters. What will happen with Arkadia and the Grounders? Also, what is the chance of there being a new villain when The 100 season 4 premieres?

There are plenty of apocalyptic TV shows on the air. As CinemaBlend mentioned, there is something that makes The 100 different from other shows in the post-apocalyptic television genre. What makes The 100 unique is that it blends futuristic ideas with the seemingly primitive beings left behind a century earlier. When Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and the other “Sky Crew” teens landed on Earth, it was a different world. Radiation over the years caused deformed animals to roam the land and the Grounders seemed quite primitive. However, season 3 of The 100 mixed in some science fiction with artificial intelligence, creating the technological reincarnation storyline introduced when Lexa died.

So far on The 100 season 3, villains have included Queen Nia (Brenda Strong) of Ice Nation, Alie (Erica Cerra) and a villain inside the walls of Arkadia, Chancellor Pike. There are several of the Grounders who view the Sky People as enemies. This is especially true following Pike (Michael Beach) and Bellamy’s Grounder massacre. Although some consider the Grounders “villains,” the clan as a whole really can’t be classified as such.

With so many villains during season 3 on The 100, will some of them recur in season 4? It is quite likely. The Grounders will most likely always exist. If they will continue to be at war with the Sky People is a big question right now. As for Pike, he will probably die by the season 3 finale of The 100. When it comes to Alie, that is a complex character. She could be dealt with by season 4 or the A.I. might continue to be an issue. Her storyline is so layered that it really is impossible to say what her fate will be.

Going back to the Grounders, Lexa was the commander of her clan until she died saving Clarke’s life. There will be a new commander of the Grounders on The 100, but if this individual understands Clarke or not is anyone’s guess. It would be a great twist and a way to honor Lexa’s memory if the new commander understood Eliza Taylor’s character the way Lexa did. With the technological reincarnation idea, it could definitely be a possibility. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, it opens up to Alycia Debnam-Carey returning to The 100 at some point, even if it is just in the new commander’s dreams or if Clarke sees a vision or hologram of Lexa.

Jason Rothenberg recently spoke to Zap2It about Lexa’s death on The 100. The showrunner revealed that Clarke will be devastated, but will try to finish what Lexa was trying to accomplish. That very well could carry into season 4 of The 100.

When it comes to Arkadia, many lives will probably be spared if Pike is handed over to the Grounders – as he should be. Blood must have blood, but that doesn’t mean the Grounders will forgive and forget. There will be new threats, new issues and possibly more battles between the Grounders and the Sky People. It is also highly likely that season 4 of The 100 will introduce at least one new villain.

What do you think will happen when The 100 season 4 premieres on the CW?
