John Stamos Goes Public With Girlfriend: ‘Fuller House’ Star Is Dating Model Caitlin McHugh
John Stamos isn’t jumping on Oprah’s couch quite yet, but he seems to be pretty smitten with his new lady love. After a week of teasing that he has a new woman in his life, the Fuller House star went public with his new girlfriend this week. According to People, John Stamos is dating model and actress Caitlyn McHugh. Stamos and McHugh were spotted on an adorable ice cream date in West Hollywood, where she was spoon feeding him a frozen treat.

John Stamos and his new girlfriend got the ice cream at Hollywood hotspot Carmella’s, and they were also photographed walking arm in arm as they walked a dog. McHugh later took to Instagram to post a selfie with an ice cream cone in her hand.
Stamos first dished about his mystery lady last week during an appearance on The View. John revealed that he was dating someone and he said his girlfriend loves the song “Disney Girls,” so he tried to record the song while on tour with the Beach Boys.
“The other night, I grabbed my phone because there’s this girl I’m dating. She loves this song ‘Disney Girls.’ So I grabbed my phone and put it in front of [me] to shoot the whole thing. I thought I got away with it. And people were like, ‘Who are you FaceTiming?'”
While John Stamos was married to Rebecca Romijn from from 1998-2005, his love life for the past decade has been kind of on the back burner. Maybe that’s because in 2009, Stamos told People that his breakup with Romijn was brutal.
“We were together for 10 years—it was heartbreaking. In my book at this point I would still be married and have three kids. So it was more about that plan being foiled than anything. I felt like a failure. It wasn’t as much about her as it was that the whole thing didn’t work. Everybody thought that she dumped me [because] her career was on fire and mine wasn’t, but that wasn’t the case. We just both woke up one day and it had run its course.”
Of course, fans always shipped Stamos and his TV wife, Lori Loughlin. The co-stars played married couple Jesse and Rebecca Katsopolis on Full House, and the duo reportedly went on one real life date back in the day, but both moved on to marry other people. Still, in an interview with Huff Post Live, John Stamos revealed that Lori Loughlin was the real life “one that got away.” At least fans get to see them together again on Fuller House!
Since his split from Romijn, John Stamos has focused mostly on work, and he currently has two big TV projects going on. Stamos stars in the Fox comedy Grandfathered and he is an executive producer and co-star on the Netflix Full House revival. Now that he has a new girlfriend, John will likely be even busier than ever.
John Stamos made headlines last year when he got into trouble for drinking and driving. Last June, the actor was pulled over by Beverly Hills police, who suspected a “possible medical condition” and transported him to Cedars Sinai Hospital. In an unusual move, the next day, John thanked the BHPD and the hospital for taking care of him via a Twitter post. Stamos later checked himself into rehab, and now he seems in a much better place both personally and professionally.
