‘Married At First Sight’ Season 3: Vanessa Blames Tres’ Lack Of Intimacy For Divorce

Fans of Married At First Sight Season 3 were incredibly disappointed when Tres and Vanessa revealed that they are no longer together, six months after the social experiment. The couple showed great potential during the show, more so than other contestants David and Ashley, Sam and Neil, that they were the only ones who decided to stay together in the finale. Turns out, however, their marriage also ended soon after.

In an interview with The Knot, Vanessa shared that she was just as shocked to learn that Tres lost feelings for her.

“I do agree with Tres that some things cannot be forced. Although, I was unaware during the duration of our experiment and our time after the Decision Day that Tres did not have or lost feelings for me.”

Although she understood that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done, Vanessa said that she was willing to go the extra mile to make their marriage work after the Married At First Sight Season 3 finale.

The reality star explained that while she still has hopes for her and Tres, she soon realized that perhaps it was never meant to be.

“I was up for the challenge and doing the work. But there is a time when you must accept when you are not on the same page in many areas that are essential to marriage and when your efforts are in vain.”

Vanessa revealed that the lack of intimacy played a huge part in their divorce. The Married At First Sight Season 3 star shared that she started to feel insecure when Tres would refuse to sleep with her. She added that she never felt wanted and did not know what was the problem.

“It just stopped, and I asked him, ‘What’s going on?’ He never explained it to me that way at all that he wanted to work on the friendship. It kind of felt like ‘I don’t like you.'”

In a separate interview with The Knot, Tres admitted that he could not put a finger on the exact same moment that he realized that Vanessa was just not “The One” for him.

Being part of Married At First Sight Season 3, Tres shared that the couples were under a lot of stress and anxiety for marrying a complete stranger. He said that they were pressured to get to know each other at an accelerated pace. It also did not help that there were cameras following them around wherever they go.

“I don’t think that there were any specific characteristics about Vanessa that made her for sure not the one for me, but there were signs that I just didn’t like.”

Tres, however, insisted that he hand nothing negative to say about his ex-wife. He held that Vanessa was just not the one he could see himself spending the rest of her life with.

The Married At First Sight Season 3 star also admitted that he could not shake off the feeling that he constantly needed to prove himself to Vanessa. He shared that he wanted to get to know her as a person instead of forcing to like her because he is his wife.

“I couldn’t get out of my head that no matter what I did or said, Vanessa would never truly believe and trust me. I got burned out on trying to prove myself and show that I was fully committed to our marriage. I then started to wonder if we could ever work.”

While disappointed that their marriage ended in a divorce, Vanessa said that she respects Tres’ decision. She added that she will forever be grateful for being part of Married At First Sight Season 3. The reality star also shared that she has yet to give up on love, in spite of her failed marriage with Tres.
