Holly Holm Loses All In Miesha Tate Fight, Ronda Rousey Laughs?

Holly Holm, the vanquisher of Ronda Rousey, lost everything in the fight against Miesha Tate. While Holly gained a lot of momentum and public attention when she defeated the all-time UFC champion, she lost it all in one go. Maybe Ronda is having a good laugh at her in the corner room.

The 34-year-old UFC fighter had a lot of resistance when she said that she wanted to challenge Miesha Tate to a fight. Seeing how she had just knocked out the most popular female UFC champion, she probably felt like she could take on the world.

The biggest resistance she faced was with UFC president Dana White, who also happens to be the biggest fan of Ronda Rousey.

“[He] never liked the idea of Holly Holm taking a fight before a potential rematch against Ronda Rousey. White’s concern played out last weekend, when Holm (10-1) suffered her first professional loss via fifth-round submission to Miesha Tate at UFC 196 in Las Vegas. The loss cost Holm the UFC’s bantamweight championship, which she won in November by knocking out Rousey.” according to ESPN.

The Albuquerque native defeated the Judo Olympian last November, which means that she got to hold onto the champion title for measly four months.

“I feel bad for Holly,” Dana White said to ESPN. “I don’t know if Holly really knows what she lost… Holly made a lot of money. She accomplished great things, she beat Ronda Rousey. But it could have been so much bigger for her, and the sad part is, I don’t think she even knows it.”

His patronizing comments about her fight against Miesha Tate has angered Holly’s manager, Lenny Fresquez.

“I didn’t make Holly fight Miesha,” Lenny retorted to TMZ. “Dana hates my guts. It’s personal. How could it be my fault? Holly is the boss.”

On the other hand, the 34-year-old fighter was a lot more professional in her response after her loss against Miesha Tate.

As a matter of fact, Holly is already back in training for her next fight. She is “in the gym training for a potential Tate rematch, specifically working on her defense against the rear naked choke, which Tate used to snatch victory from her,” according to Fox Sports.

The 34-year-old MMA professional has made it clear that she wants a rematch with Miesha Tate before she goes against Ronda, even though the latter has bigger money prizes for her. That shows that she is fighting for the fight, not for the dough.

But the next fight will go towards the president’s favorite, Ronda Rousey, not towards the rematch against Holly and Miesha.

“I think that Ronda now will fight Miesha Tate for the title,” Dana White said according to Daily Mail. “That’s what’s going to happen. That’s what I said before this fight even happened, whoever wins tonight will fight Ronda for the title.”

Ever since her loss to Holly, Ronda Rousey has been using the popular media for some ego boost. Her latest body paint project with Sports Illustrated has made her even more prominent, not just as a fighter, but as a female athlete.

Check out her Instagram post about her experience shooting for another Sports Illustrated spread.

She has also hosted SNL, appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. In fact, even in losing her UFC championship title, she has gained even wider fame and popularity in the general public.

In addition, she is in a steady relationship with Travis Browne, who is also a fighter. There also has been rumors of engagement and wedding, but that has not yet been confirmed by the couple.
