‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers — The Fate Of Jon Snow And Every Other Key Takeaway From The Latest Trailer

The newest Game of Thrones trailer offered fans the first complete look at what’s to come in Season 6. While the trailer featured a lot of information to digest, there are still a number of mysteries surrounding the new season. From the fate of Jon Snow to Daenerys Targaryen’s dealings with the Dothraki, here are the main takeaways from the latest trailer.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the trailer revealed that Kit Harington’s character is officially dead. Without a doubt, the fate of Jon Snow has been the most talked about development on the show ever since his tragic death at the end of Season 5. In the trailer, fans got a first look at Jon’s dead corpse while Ghost, Ser Davos Seaworth, and a mysterious man looked on.

Later in the trailer, Davos is shown drawing out Snow’s sword, Longclaw, as he prepares to defend Snow’s corpse. Why Davos is defending it is unclear, though it might be an attempt to ward off the rest of the Night’s Watch. “I’ve never been much of a fighter. Apologies for what you’re about to see,” Davos says.

Jon Snow might be dead, but that doesn’t mean he will stay dead. After all, Beric Dondarrion came back after his death, and Melisandre of Asshai could be the key to resurrecting Snow in the coming season. Melisandre is featured in the clip and appears to undergo some kind of ritual with Davos. Though it can’t be said for sure, this could be the scene which brings Snow back to Westeros.

Apart from Snow, the trailer revealed the return of the king of the White Walkers. His appearance isn’t all that surprising, though seeing him standing next to Bran Stark is definitely intriguing. Considering how Bran was standing on his own is an indication that the scene is a part of one of his visions. What the vision means and how it ties into the larger storyline is unknown.

At the same time, the trailer also hinted at a Tower of Joy flashback. At several moments in the clip, Eddard Stark is shown in his youth fighting some unknown House Targaryen warriors. In the books, the battle at the tower had lasting impacts on Westeros, one of which was the birth of Jon Snow. Along with an exciting flashback, this could mean that one of the Game of Thrones’ longest standing mysteries involving Snow’s real parents might be solved.

Meanwhile, it has long been rumored that one of the characters will be flayed and burned alive in season six. The trailer featured a first glimpse at the unfortunate individual burning at the stake and hinted that it could end up being Stannis Baratheon. Either way, it is clear that Roose and Ramsay Bolton will be faced with fighting an army while Sansa Stark has successfully escaped to a safe location.

On a different note, Gizmodo is reporting that the Lannister twins are going to back and better than ever in the new season. In the trailer, both Jamie and Cersei appear visibly upset about something. While their sadness could very well be a result of the death of Myrcella, Jamie assures his sister/lover that “Everything they’ve taken from us we’re going to take back, and more.”

Lastly, the trailer also features a few scenes with Daenerys. The queen of dragons is most notably shown walking beside a horde of Dothraki in what appears outside of Vaes Dothrak. At this point, it isn’t clear what Daenerys is doing in Dothraki territory and whether or not she has succeeded in getting them to fight for her cause.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones is set to premiere April 24.
