EA Details Battlefield 3’s ‘Aftermath’ Expansion

‘Armored Kill’ is the next Battlefield 3 expansion in line for release, but EA and developer DICE are now starting to share details on ‘Aftermath’, which will release on all platforms following Armored Kill.

Aftermath is the fourth of five planned Battlefield 3 expansions, and is expected to release on PlayStation 3 first at some point in December, with a release following on PC and Xbox 360 a week after. If you’ve subscribed to Battlefield 3‘s “Premium” service, you’ll be able to get access two weeks earlier.

EA says that Battlefield 3‘s Aftermath expansion will take place in a post-earthquake Tehran, and will add in four all-new multiplayer maps, new vehicles, assignments and weapons. As will be the case with Armored Kill, the fourth expansion will also add in a new game mode, but EA isn’t saying just what that will be at the moment.

“With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives,” EA said in a press release.

“Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.”

The fifth and final Battlefield 3 expansion, dubbed ‘End Game,’ is expected to release in March of next year.
