Fans have been waiting for it, and now they are no longer sitting in wonder, as ABC revealed the Season 22 cast for Dancing With the Stars. There are some big celebrity names who will put on their dancing shoes and they come from the worlds of music, entertainment, reality television, and even the football field. Jodie Sweetin, Von Miller, Mischa Barton, Kim Fields, and many more are ready to win it all, and here is the full cast.
Yes, talk show host Geraldo Rivera is going to be there too.
Us Magazine revealed that the complete cast list was unveiled on Good Morning America on Tuesday morning, and they are all hoping to take home the Mirrorball Trophy. It’s an interesting and varied cast for this year that goes through all walks of life and leaves things wide open.
Some weren’t sure who would end up on DWTS this season, as many rumors had come about and been squashed over the recent months. It appears though that the rabid success of Fuller House was enough to get Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) on this year’s cast, and she will be paired with professional Keo Motsepe.
This season, there won’t be just one NFL star, but three.
Former NFL quarterback Doug Flutie is now in the booth and calling games, but he’s going to take his talents to the dance floor. Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller is also taking a little time away from the Denver Broncos to see if he can win big in dance shoes, as well. Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is known for his talent and agility on the field, but can he do the foxtrot?
Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men fame is going to try getting his dance steps back to go along with that magnificent voice that has helped sell 64 million albums around the world.
UFC fighter Paige VanZant is one of the youngest and most popular fighters in the world, and she has an impressive octagon record of 6-2-0. With a nickname like “12 Gauge,” the other competitors on Dancing With the Stars had better be careful where they step and what they do.
Here is the full cast list and their professional partners:
- Mischa Barton with Artem Chigvintsev
- Antonio Brown with Sharna Burgess
- Nyle DiMarco with Peta Murgatroyd
- Kim Fields with Sasha Farber
- Doug Flutie with Karina Smirnoff
- Marla Maples with Tony Dovolani
- Von Miller with Witney Carson
- Wanya Morris with Lindsay Arnold
- Geraldo Rivera with Edyta Sliwinska
- Jodie Sweetin with Keo Motsepe
- Paige VanZant with Mark Ballas
- Ginger Zee with Valentin Chmerkovskiy
As you can see from that list, there is one big name missing from the professionals side of things. Entertainment Tonight recently confirmed that Derek Hough would not be appearing on Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars, and he will truly be missed.
Now, he may not be gone for good, but he is taking a bit of a break. Word has it that there is time remaining on his contract with ABC, but for now, he’s on break from the show and will be doing some other things in life after winning Season 21 with Bindi Irwin.
Hough is going to appear on Nashville, and he’s also in the Broadway musical Singin’ In The Rain.
He won’t be the only one not coming back, either. His sister, Julianne Hough, is not going to return to the judges panel after three seasons in that spot, but will be replaced by a returning Leo Goodman. It does seem as if Julianne Hough may indeed be done.
Dancing With the Stars is still going strong, and they’ve got a pretty big cast for Season 22, and none quite stand out as the favorite. It’s anyone’s Mirrorball Trophy to take home, and all the big names such as Jodie Sweetin, Geraldo Rivera, Von Miller, and Paige VanZant want to hold it high when the music stops.
