Fans Want Fetty Wap To Perform ‘Trap Queen’ At Nancy Reagan’s Funeral

Last year, Fetty Wap’s single “Trap Queen” took over radio stations and was played at parties everywhere. The music video for Fetty Wap’s hit has almost 400 million views to date and stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for 34 weeks. Today, Fetty Wap’s fans are hoping his ode to the trap queen will be performed by Fetty Wap himself at Nancy Reagan’s funeral because to them, Reagan was a trap queen in her own right.

According to NBC News, the former first lady passed away yesterday, March 6, at age 94, from congestive heart failure. Her funeral is set to take place this Friday at 2 p.m. EST, reports CNN. She will be buried at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, next to her husband, President Reagan.

Fetty Wap fan and Chage.org user David D. has until Friday to make his petition a reality. Reagan’s death has brought the spotlight back on her “Just Say No” campaign against youth substance abuse and the War on Drugs, both of which are a major part of her and her husband’s legacy. According to the Drug Policy Alliance, Nancy Reagan’s campaign alongside President Reagan’s “drug war” led to mass incarceration of minority drug users for non-violent drug crimes.

During the same time, President Reagan was also funding the Contras in Nicaragua, who supplied the U.S. with much of its cocaine in L.A. This hypocrisy is why David deems Nancy Reagan as “the most famous Trap Queen in American history.”

“While her husband, Ronald Reagan, was linking up with Papi to flood the streets with narcotics, Nancy was on TV telling kids to ‘Say No To Drugs,'” David D. wrote. “Blacks and Latinos went to jail in droves for possessing drugs her husband gave them. It was an incredible sleight of hand that would make any wannabe Trap Queen hide in shame for her inability to be as diabolical as Nancy.”

Fetty Wap’s party anthem song describes a trap queen as someone who cooks cocaine in the kitchen, gets money, goes to the strip club, and gets high. Although none of these descriptions seem to describe Reagan, that hasn’t stopped the petition from gaining support.

The petition currently has over 3,000 supporters and is quickly gaining supporters by the minute. There is one person who has yet to sign the petition, however. It seems Fetty Wap isn’t on board just yet. It’s unclear if the petition has crossed his radar, but Fetty Wap hasn’t commented on it and definitely hasn’t signed it.

Although it’s clear David intends this petition to be a joke, his critiques on Nancy Reagan and her legacy are evident as he quotes Fetty Wap’s song to make his point.

“So, to commemorate her contribution to the Trap, we’d love to have Fetty Wap perform ‘Trap Queen’ at Nancy’s funeral,” David wrote. “To usher her to a better place…where she’s probably cooking pies with her baby.”

Of course, the odds of Fetty Wap singing at Nancy Reagan’s funeral are slim to none, no matter how much support the petition gets. Still, the petition itself has brought more attention to a part of Reagan’s legacy that often doesn’t get discussed. Whether Fetty Wap is invited to perform or not (probably not) at least this petition has sparked conversation.

Still, it would be amazing to see Fetty Wap perform at Nancy Reagan’s funeral. If nothing else, it would make things very interesting.
