Kelly Clarkson is breaking records after breaking hearts on American Idol.
Following her stunning performance of “Piece By Piece” on the show that made her a household name, American Idol, on February 25, Kelly Clarkson is now making history with her rocket back up the Billboard charts.
According to a new report by Billboard, Clarkson’s emotional performance launched the album of the same name soaring back up the charts and now has the “largest positional jump into the top 10” of any album in the past five years.
The site is reporting that Kelly’s sixth studio album (her seventh including her 2013 holiday collection Wrapped in Red) was previously sitting at No. 120 on the Billboard Top 200 before Clarkson took to the American Idol stage. Piece by Piece then saw a 682 percent increase after Kelly stunned the nation and launched the album all the way up to No. 6.
Billboard is reporting that this is the first time Clarkson’s album has been back in the top 10 since the collection first debuted in the No. 1 spot when it was originally released back in March 2015.
But while Kelly Clarkson’s incredibly emotional performance of “Piece By Piece” certainly did the trick when it came to sales, Clarkson actually admitted during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she was “embarrassed” by her teary American Idol farewell.
“I came off [the stage] almost in tears for a different reason because I was so embarrassed,” Kelly told Ellen DeGeneres of the performance during her latest appearance on the daytime talk show last week. “I was like, ‘Oh, God. This is my final thing on [American Idol] and I could not hold it together.'”

Kelly, who’s currently expecting her second child with husband Brandon Blackstock, also confessed that she was “proud” of herself for making it as far into the song as she did before breaking down in tears.
“I was almost losing it almost the entire song,” Clarkson confessed, “I was proud of myself for making it as far as I did.”
But it wasn’t just Kelly herself who was in tears during her final ever American Idol performance.
Keith Urban, who was visibly teary as Kelly sang last month, had nothing but praise for Clarkson after the show, joking to Entertainment Tonight that anyone who didn’t shed a tear needs to “check their pulse.”
“[Kelly’s] just a phenomenal singer. She did a great job tonight,” Urban admitted following Clarkson’s stunning “Piece By Piece” performance. “The song, it’s insane. I figure you’re either crying at this performance or you need to check your pulse.”
Urban further described the hit as “an amazing song.”
Jennifer Lopez also opened up about the emotional song and Urban and Clarkson’s tears during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers last week, where she confessed that she didn’t even know Urban was “breaking down” beside her on the American Idol judging panel until she watched the show back at home that night.
“I didn’t even notice… I was so into [Kelly Clarkson’s] performance and watching her and feeling so much for her, I didn’t even realize that Keith Urban was falling apart next to me!” Jennifer confessed to Seth Meyers, admitting that she didn’t see Keith was crying next to her.
“I, like, I watched it back later at home… I was like ‘Let me see how the show looked tonight…’ and I go, ‘Oh my God! I’m an idiot!'” Lopez confessed of the moment she spotted Urban’s reaction.
