‘Zootopia’ Goes Wild In ‘Disney Infinity 3.0’ Toy Box

Zootopia‘s Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde enter the Disney Infinity 3.0 toy box just in time for the film’s theatrical debut. Continuing in the footsteps of other Disney Animation Studios films like Big Hero 6 and Frozen, Zootopia is bringing its Disney magic to the Disney Infinity 3.0 toy box in the form of two new figures and four new power discs.

Buyers be forewarned, as the new Zootopia figures are proving popular with Disney Infinity 3.0 players and may be hard to find at launch. With Zootopia entering the record books as Disney Animation Studios’ biggest opening weekend to date and critics singing the film’s praises, fans seem to be eager to add the lovable characters to their Disney Infinity 3.0 toy boxes.

Some retailers like Best Buy have (seemingly temporarily) sold out of their online stock of the Judy Hopps 3.0 figure and the Nick Wilde 3.0 figure. Each figure is sold at retail for approximately $15 USD or less. However, Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked members may be scoring a sweet deal on the figures by saving 20 percent off the newly released video game product.

The Power Disc Pack includes four discs and costs about $10 USD. The discs included are Officer Wilde, Meter Maid Judy, Stars Over Sahara Square, and Sahara Square Sands. The first two discs offer a costume change to Nick and Judy, putting the former in a ZPD officer’s uniform and reliving the latter’s previous career role as a Meter Maid. The Stars Over Sahara Square and Sahara Square Sands Power Discs can be combined to change the toy box cityscape and landscape to match that of the film’s fancy, bustling Sahara Square.

The Zootopia Power Disc Pack is also sold out online at BestBuy.com, but the retailer urges prospective buyers to check stock levels at nearby stores via their website. However, as of this writing, some retailers do have the figures and Power Discs in stock, including Target and GameStop.

The Zootopia expansion to Disney Infinity 3.0 kicks off the new Disney Infinity Next program for this year. Disney Interactive announced on March 1 that this year would extend the life of the existing Disney Infinity 3.0 starter pack rather than tossing it aside for a theoretical 4.0 version come Holiday 2016. Instead, the publisher has promised a plethora of new Toy Box figures and Power Discs. Plus, four new Play Sets will be released this year, each coinciding with big theatrical releases from the worlds of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.

The first Play Set expansion comes from the world of Marvel and hits store shelves more than a month ahead of Captain America: Civil War. On March 15, Marvel Battlegrounds launches as the first Play Set to allow backwards compatibility with figures from past Disney Infinity iterations. All Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel characters can enter the fray of the Disney Infinity 3.0 Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set, per the official Disney Infinity website. Additional Marvel characters are getting figures of their own, too. New figures to collect and play with include Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Vision. Plus, Black Suit Spider-Man (previously exclusive to the PlayStation Vita starter pack) gets his standalone release.

“Black Suit Spider-Man is just one of the 2.0 characters you’ll be able to use in Marvel Battlegrounds, which supports all of the Marvel characters previously introduced in Disney Infinity. This feature gives Marvel Battlegrounds the most playable characters than any previous Disney Infinity Play Set.”
