Powerball Jackpot Rises To $139M For Saturday

The Powerball Jackpot. It is the dream of every person alive — or at least everyone that isn’t already filthy rich — to choose the numbers that will show up on five little white balls and one red one and in one fell swoop change their lives forever.

When the numbers are drawn on Saturday, one lucky person, or perhaps more, will have that experience with $139 million on the line.

WTAQ of Wisconsin reported that Wednesday night’s drawing netted only a $10,000 winner who matched four of the numbers, meaning the big winner is still out there to be claimed. The current Powerball Jackpot, which has rolled over nine times, has been building since June 27.

While it may take matching all the numbers to hit the jackpot, those who play can win everything from $4 to $2,000,000 on their ticket. The Powerball website is littered with stories of those who, on a routine grocery trip, bought a ticket and found out they won a million bucks or more.

Certainly most people would be estatic, but some take even great news in stride. The Powerball website reports that recent $1,000,000 winner Brian Reed took the news well.

“I asked for a $5 quick pick, but actually had an extra dollar so I got three,” said Reed. “I didn’t get too excited, I just said ‘Cool, I won’.”

If you pick the right numbers and win the Powerball Jackpot on Saturday, and no one else does, you’ll have the option of receiving the total amount in 30 annual installments of $4,633,333.33 million a year, or just less than $94 million up front.
