Charlize Theron Won’t Bend ‘To Make A Man Feel Secure’

There is a reason Charlize Theron is idolized by millions, including many other models turned actresses, and that has something to do with her fierce independence and iron-willed tenacity. Charlize has always gone after her dreams with unbridled passion, and that’s something that Ms. Theron says most men find intimidating. As she speaks about dating and her desire to follow her own path, one can’t help but wonder if ex-boyfriend Sean Penn might have clashed with Theron’s determined will once too often. It’s hard to imagine Sean Penn intimidated by anyone, but then Charlize Theron isn’t just anyone.

Mad Max Star Charlize Theron Says She Won’t Back Down For Any Man

Many are wondering why Charlize is still single so long after her split from Penn, which happened in early August. Ms. Theron hasn’t given specific details, but she has said that most of the men she meets are intimidated by her and added that she thinks many of them ate too insecure to handle a relationship with her.

Charlize says she has never been one to compromise or to give up on anything she has ever wanted. Theron adds that she always dreams big and tries to make the most out of her life, so, to accept less, would make the Dark Places actress unhappy.

“Most men’s reactions to me are a reflection of their own insecurities and nothing to do with me and really speak to their character and not mine,” Charlize says. “I’ve never tried to appear less forceful or be less assertive in order to make a man feel secure.”

Ms. Theron says she looks for men that will encourage her in her dreams and goals. The Mad Max actress wants a man who can support her and not feel threatened by her dreams or her success.

Charlize Theron Tapped To Play Another Villain

There’s talk that Universal is courting Ms. Theron to play the big villain in Fast 8, the next film in the Fast & Furious franchise. There is apparently a deal on the table with Universal very eager to add Charlize to the cast, so perhaps the rest is up to the actress to make the final decision.

Charlize is also up for the lead in Sony’s The Gray Man, which is undergoing a rewrite to change the lead from male to female. It may be possible for Charlize to take on both roles with minimal scheduling conflicts.

Theron has proven herself to be a thrilling villain in several past films and she will do so again, as she reprises her role as Ravenna in The Huntsman: Winter’s War, when that film hits theaters in April. Ms. Theron excels at playing the villain, but her dramatic roles seem to leave something to be desired. Charlize’s most recent drama, Dark Places, has been floundering at box offices and it’s unlikely that DVD and streaming sales will do much to improve those numbers.

The bottom line is that Charlize Theron thrives in action-oriented roles. It will be interesting to see her join Fast 8 as a villain, particularly since past installments of the franchise have been largely testosterone driven. Casting for Fast 8 is beginning to paint the picture that Universal is going for a female driven plot and if that is the case, Theron will surely thrill and captivate as the film’s big bad villain.

Fast 8 is also expected to bring back Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, and Jason Statham in their former roles.

There is no established release date for Fast 8 at this time, but Universal is pushing for an unspecified 2017 date.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War, starring Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron, is scheduled for an April 7 theatrical release.
