Colt Brennan Busted For DUI, Drug Possession

Colt Brennan, a 2007 Heisman Trophy finalist, was arrested in Hawaii Wednesday night for suspected DUI and drug possession.

TMZ reports that Brennan, a former University of Hawaii star quarterback, was arrested around 11:50 pm on suspicion of drunk driving, as well as promotion of a dangerous drug in the third degree (drug possession).

The 28-year-old was arrested late last night in Kailua. He was being held at police headquarters on Thursday, where he met with his attorney, Michael Green, reports NJ.com.

Brennan, who spent a couple of disappointing years in the NFL, and his attorney stated the former star football player is sad and feels as if he is disappointing fans with his career so far.

KHON-2 notes that Colt Brennan was released from the Saskatchewan Roughriders, a Canadian football league team, last month, and has been staying in Kailua since returning to Hawaii. He was drafted into the NFL in 2008 by the Washington Redskins, but was released just two years later.

Green told reporters that Brennan still has not recovered completely from a traffic accident on November 19, 2010 that left him in the hospital with serious injuries. Brennan, who was a passenger in a Toyota 4-Runner driven by his girlfriend, Shakti Stream, suffered from head trauma and multiple broken bones after the SUV crashed head-on into an oncoming car on Hawaii Island.

Brennan’s attorney stated that the former football player still suffers from physical and emotional injuries related to the wreck. Colt Brennan was released from police custody around 12 p.m. Thursday.
