Makeup Trends For 2016: Eyebrow Etching, Pom-Pom Nails, And ‘Trumping’ Your Face

Donald Trump recently scared a baby, as seen in a photo of Trump holding a child with a blonde Mohawk that Trump plucked out of the crowd, as reported by The Inquisitr. Trump’s hair isn’t just inspiring fashion trends, but Trump’s face is doing the same. On Instagram, folks are tagging their makeup style #trumping — which currently enjoys 1,081 posts.

In those “Trumping” photos, people are emulating the viral do-it-yourself tutorial that shows how to add an orange hue to the skin with nude lips to look like Donald. Dubbed “Make Your Face Great Again,” the video tutorial is gaining raves.

The “Trumping” makeup tutorial, as reported by the Huffington Post?, urges people to add copious amounts of foundation to their faces to try and look like Trump.

“Stop laying the foundation to that wall and start laying the foundation to your face.”

The original video, titled “Make Your Face Great Again Makeup Tutorial” on YouTube?, was uploaded to YouTube on March 4, and in that time is nearing 500,000 views. With plenty of likes and comments, the video is receiving feedback that jokes about Trump likely daring to sue to YouTube video creator.

Beyond the crazy “Trumping” makeup trend is another trend that’s not politically motivated, but might remind you of being in high school. Adding onto to the crazy nail trends of the past — like bubble nails, marble nails, stiletto nails, furry nails, and a plethora of other trends — is the trend dubbed pom-pom nails.

As seen on the Instagram account named margarets_nails, the pom-pom nails trend looks unique on that specific social media account.

“Release your inner cheerleader (or Pomeranian puppy) with pom-pom nails! The latest trend to hit the nail art world isn’t exactly practical, but it certainly is cute. It might be easier to adhere the pom-poms with something removable so you can continue to go about your day after you take your Instagram snaps.”

Reminiscent of the furry nails trend, the pom-pom nails trend involves adding textures in a 3D manner that aren’t normally seen on nails. The pom-pom nails bring up all sorts of questions, similar to the fur nails, such as how long those pom-pom would take to dry after a good washing of the hands. Recommendations that the pom-poms be adhered with something that allows for easy removal can be found.

Certain photos featuring pom-pom nails appear to have dainty little round balls stuck to nails, while other photos feature larger pom-poms that have folks commenting that they either want to try the trend or are asking why the trend has even arrived.

Last but not least is the cosmetic trend of “eyebrow etching,” as reported by King 5.

Eyebrow etching involves using a tool to “etch” eyebrows onto eyebrows that might be thin or in need of shaping. Also called Microblading, as reported by The Inquisitr, the eyebrow etching can be dubbed 3-D brow embroidery as well.

Instead of using an eyebrow pencil to create large strokes, the semi-permanent procedure of eyebrow etching uses a tiny blade that has tinier needles to simulate strokes of hair. It’s semi-permanent because the color used does not get implanted too deeply into the skin, so the pigment gets sloughed away after one or two years. That way, the brows won’t remain forever if the person doesn’t love them.

Those who want thicker-appearing eyebrows might be ideal for the procedure, however, it doesn’t come cheap. Eyebrow etching can take approximately two hours to perform and cost $450 from GLOSS Beauty Studio.

With “Trumping” and eyebrow etching and pom-pom nails, 2016 is starting off interestingly in terms of beauty trends.
