Morgan Freeman Reads Justin Bieber Lyrics To ‘Love Yourself’ And It’s ‘Pure Magic’
It isn’t any secret that actor Morgan Freeman has an amazing voice, so when he reads the lyrics to Justin Bieber’s 2015 ballad “Love Yourself,” well, the result is nothing short of mesmerizing. A day before Freeman’s latest film, London Has Fallen, released in theaters, Vanity Fair posted a video to YouTube of the actor dramatically reading the lyrics. As The Inquisitr recently reported, the video quickly went viral, garnering over 1 million views.

Freeman’s voice has been described as “soothing,” “reassuring” and “legendary.” He has one of the most recognized voices of any actor and has narrated many projects over the years, including commercials and movies. According to People, Freeman has narrated at least two of the films he’s been in – Million Dollar Baby and The Shawshank Redemption.
Before Freeman reads the lyrics to “Love Yourself,” he says, “I’m going to give a dramatic reading from a very popular songwriter.” He then adds in a bit of an eye roll for comic effect.
“My mama didn’t like you and she likes everyone / And I never like to admit that I was wrong / And I’ve been so caught up in my job / Didn’t see what’s going on / But now I know, I’m better sleeping on my own. / ‘Cause if you like the way you look that much / Oh baby, you should go and love yourself.”
Freeman goes on to read, “For all the times that you rain on my parade, and all the clubs you get in using my name.”
“You think you broke my heart, oh, girl for goodness’ sake, you think I’m crying on my own,” he says, then dramatically pauses. “Well, I ain’t.”
With his timed pauses and direct glances into the camera, the Vanity Fair staff seem to hardly be able to contain their laughter. E! Online declares the results of Freeman reading the lyrics to “Love Yourself” as “pure magic.” Watch the video above and decide for yourself.
Freeman’s reading of Bieber’s lyrics have proved to be popular, and the video going viral is evidence of that. Many viewers of the video are wishing for Freeman to read lyrics to other songs.
One person who commented on the YouTube video wrote, “I would literally love a YouTube channel of Morgan Freeman doing this with a bunch of different songs.”
How did Freeman end up with such a spectacular voice? According to Time Magazine, Freeman revealed how he acquired his magical voice on Jimmy Kimmel’s show on Wednesday.
“I went to school to study how to be an actor and in that school, Los Angeles City College, I had a voice and diction instructor who was very good at his job. You had to learn to speak and sound your final consonants.”
Kimmel quipped, “So you actually learned something in college. I learned how to drink beer out of a funnel.”

Bieber, who performed “Love Yourself” at last month’s Grammy Awards, seems to approve of Freeman’s reading as he retweeted Vanity Fair’s tweet about the video.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has been asked to read lyrics to a Justin Bieber song. Last month, Vanity Fair asked 29 celebrities to read the lyrics to Bieber’s song “Sorry.” Chelsea Handler, John Legend, and Jon Hamm were among the celebrities who were asked.
