O.J. Simpson Knife: Former Prosecutor Marcia Clark Responds To Possible Key Evidence

O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murder back in 1995 after being accused of killing his estranged wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. Although many people have formulated their own opinions about the trial, years have passed without much to go on. The case has been open since that time without any clues as to who may have murdered Nicole and Ron — but that could all change very soon.

According to TMZ, a knife was found on O.J. Simpson’s property several years ago and has just been turned in for investigation. Sources say that this knife could be a key piece of evidence that will ultimately give the Browns and the Goldmans the closure they have so desperately needed.

“Our law enforcement sources say the construction worker took the knife to the street, where he saw an LAPD cop. He told the officer where he found the knife and the cop took it. Turns out the cop — who worked in the traffic division — was off duty at the time, working security for a movie shoot at a house across the street on Rockingham. Our sources say the officer took the knife home and kept it… kept it for years,” reports TMZ.

O.J. Simpson has been in the news all week because of this potentially incredible find. While the knife may not even be related to the murders, the idea that the murder weapon may have been uncovered, and was kept as a token of sorts after all this time, well, that is quite interesting to say the very least.

According to Entertainment Tonight, former Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark has responded to the latest developments.

“I really don’t know what to think of it. I can’t believe someone gave a police officer what appears to be, could be, important evidence in a case — even if it is closed — and takes it home. I don’t know what to say about that except I can’t believe it, but it’s apparently what happened. I don’t know whether to say it is truly evidence, none of us knows that yet — it might be a hoax, it might be somebody who planted it and then just pretended to find it and gave it to the off-duty police officer, you don’t know, but, of course, I’m glad the LAPD is taking it seriously and subjecting it to testing so we can find out.”

O.J. Simpson is currently in jail serving a 33-year prison sentence following convictions of armed robbery and kidnapping. As he waits for his release date, law enforcement officials are working overtime to try to find out where this knife came from and if it has any DNA on it. The knife is currently in police custody and is undergoing various tests. Sources say that the knife (which has been called a Buck pocket knife) is pretty rusted, but that it is being examined for blood, hair, and fingerprints.

Marcia Clark also talked about what would happen if DNA was recovered from the knife. She doesn’t believe that a DNA finding would bring any type of prosecution, but she does seem intrigued by the idea of this case finally being closed after two decades.

“It’s entirely possible that if there is some DNA to be recovered, that it could be found, especially with today’s technology, which is much more sensitive. I think it’s a remarkable development if it does turn out to be connected to the murders of Ron and Nicole. It would be interesting if there was some evidence on that knife that pointed to who might have helped to bury it, if indeed someone else did. The likelihood of any prosecution stemming from this evidence is very, very slim. But we have to find out what this means — what the truth of this is.”

Do you think that the knife found on O.J. Simpson’s property will be the key to closure in this case?
