Jennifer Lopez Admits She Didn’t Expect To Still Be ‘Relevant,’ Drops Huge New Music Details

Jennifer Lopez is admitting that she didn’t expect to still be “relevant” this far into her career. She also dropped huge new music details.

Lopez made the big career admission in a recent interview with People, where she confessed that she initially worried she’d no longer be “relevant” when she reached what she described as “a certain age.”

“When you first start in this business, you think, ‘This is going to run out’ or ‘It’s going to finish at a certain time’ or ‘If I reach a certain age I won’t be relevant,'” Lopez admitted to the site earlier this week.

But despite confessing that she didn’t expect her career, which first began when she became a Fly Girl dancer on In Living Color in the early 1990s, to continue for quite this long, Jennifer Lopez is also revealing that she’s ready to drop new music.

Lopez opened up about when fans can expect the release of new music into the world in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, and it turns out Jennifer Lopez’s millions of fans won’t have to wait long for the follow-up to her 2014 single “Booty” with Iggy Azalea.

“We should be putting something out real soon,” Jennifer confessed to the site of new music earlier this month, where she also revealed that she’s been hard at work “on music for the past couple months.”

Lopez also confessed to People that she’s viewing her new album, her first since A.K.A hit shelves in 2014, as being like a new start for her.

“I’ve had so much success over the years but this is going to be a great starting point again,” Jennifer admitted to the site earlier this week, adding that her new music is “all about finding the right sound… and the right songs and the right lyrics” for her as an artist today.

Jennifer added in the interview that she feels she’s going from strength to strength as she goes through new experiences in her life.

“I have more to give to what I do and that’s what I look forward to when creating this record,” Jennifer said.

Jennifer’s huge new music confession comes just days after Us Weekly revealed that Lopez had signed a new record deal with her former label, Epic Records, which will see her reunite with music legend L.A. Reid.

The site revealed earlier this week that Jennifer had ended her former contract with Capitol Records and had instead signed “a multi-album deal” with Epic, who oversaw Lopez’s earlier albums J.Lo, This Is Me… Then, Rebirth, Brave, and Jennifer’s Spanish-language album Como Ama una Mujer.

According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, Jennifer had dinner with Reid and her manager Benny Medina on February 29, where the group celebrated Lopez officially signing on the dotted line to re-join the music company.

“She had dinner with Benny and L.A. Reid Monday night at Il Mulino to celebrate her new record deal!” the source confirmed to the site earlier this week, adding that Jennifer is excited to be back with L.A. Reid.

“Jennifer and L.A. are longtime friends,” the source said, revealing that the Lopez and Reid “love working together.”

“She has a bunch of hits. But she’s always making music,” the insider continued to the site of Lopez’s new Epic contract. “[Jennifer is] really excited to work with L.A. to put new stuff out!”

Jennifer also confirmed the big news on Instagram, posting a shot of herself and Reid, which she captioned “Heading Back Home! New Record Deal! @la_reid @epicrecords”
