‘Teen Mom 2’ Leah Messer Prepares For Easter After Regaining Custody Of Twins

Leah Messer is excited to have regained custody of her twin girls, Ali and Aleeah, 6. Following her January custody hearing, in which the Teen Mom 2 star received joint custody along with her ex-husband, Corey Simms, Messer is preparing to celebrate Easter as a family.

On March 4, Leah Messer shared the following message with her fans and followers online:

In October of last year, Leah Messer was in court with her ex-husband, Corey Simms, to address the custody arrangement for their two children, and after the hearing wrapped, In Touch Weekly revealed Simms had been given full custody of their twins, with Leah Messer having them only on weekends.

“Leah only gets the girls on the weekends now,” a family insider revealed. “[Leah Messer]’s really been screwing up since [Corey filed for full custody in 2014], so Corey took her back to court. The judge looked at the girls’ school records, which show that they’ve been late for school, and made the change in custody.”

Also on March 4, Leah Messer posted a message on her Instagram page, which featured a quote by Lindsay Rielly for Live Your Standard. It read, “The easiest way to live your life the way you’d like it to be, is by focusing on what feels good, leading with love and by turning your attention away from things that do not align with your standards.”

Months after losing custody of the twins, Leah Messer returned to court to readdress her custody arrangement, and after proving her daughters were not late to school, as the prior custody hearing alleged, she and Simms came to an agreement to share joint custody.

“[Leah Messer] is doing great,” a source told Us Weekly after her January court appearance. “She had confidence that she would be proven right and get her custody rights back.”

During the appearance, Leah Messer agreed to care for Ali and Aleeah Thursdays through Sundays, while Simms would get them on Mondays and keep them until the following Thursday. Simms will also get his children one weekend each month. In addition, Leah Messer and Simms “came to an agreement that works best for the girls,” and will “split the bills 50-50.”

“[Leah Messer] was never asking for full custody,” the source said. “She wants the girls to be able to see their dad.”

And as for the allegations regarding her daughters’ tardiness, the source added, “[Leah Messer] proved in court that the kids were not tardy to school, so the judge said there was no reason the kids shouldn’t be with their mom predominantly.”

Following Leah Messer’s divorce from Simms in 2011, she began dating and eventually married Jeremy Calvert in April 2012. One year later, their daughter, Adalynn Faith, now 3, was born.

Sadly, in October of last year, Leah Messer was faced with shocking drama, when her husband took to Twitter, where he claimed she had cheated on him with her ex-boyfriend. The following month, Leah Messer’s then-husband filed for divorce, and in June of 2015, their split was made official.
