‘Hyrule Warriors Legends’ Nintendo 3DS US Release Set For March 24, Four DLCs Expected This Year


During the recent Nintendo Direct presentation, the Japanese video game publisher revealed new details about one of its upcoming titles, Hyrule Warriors Legends, which will be available for Nintendo 3DS. This Legend of Zelda spin-off is firmly set for release in the U.S. as well as in Europe on March 24.

Nintendo 3DS’ Hyrule Warriors Legends will showcase the entire list of characters present in the 2014 original Wii U game version, including the add-on characters, with the exception of Cucco and Ganon. Fans of the upcoming 3Ds title can also expect new playable characters like Linkle, Skull Kid, Toon Link, Tetra and the King of Hyrule. Ganondorf will also be present, which will have a new trident weapon in the game’s Nintendo 3DS version, as explained by Anime News Network.

Another one of the highlights disclosed about Hyrule Warriors Legends is the game’s Season Pass. Anime News Network reports that availing the season pass will give players automatic access to four DLC packs set for release this year. Furthermore, the Season Pass for Hyrule Warriors Legends also includes a Ganondorf costume. Polygon shares that acquiring the game’s Nintendo 3DS Season Pass will bring in additional characters such as Skull Kid and Tetra to the Wii U version.

The first downloadable content pack arriving for Hyrule Warriors Legends for the Nintendo 3DS will bring in Medli, a character from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. VG247 noted that Medli will be available for free for the original Hyrule Warriors game on the Wii U console, as well.

Aside from accessing the DLC via the Season Pass, the upcoming content packs for the action adventure game can also be purchased as standalone content; however, prices and other specifics have not yet been disclosed, according to GameSpot.

Fans in the U.S. will also be in for some treats if they decide to pre-order a physical copy of the game developed by Koei Tecmo, Team Ninja and Omega Force. A character art book will be available for players if they pre-order the game via the video game and consumer electronic store GameStop. GameSpot’s report cited that special Hyrule Warriors home menu theme for Nintendo 3DS will be available for those who pre-order in North America.

Meanwhile, gamers in Europe can enjoy this home menu freebie if they will acquire a copy of the game from the Nintendo eShop. As for other details that will be enjoyed by European gamers, Hyrule Warriors Legends will have a limited edition that comes with a compass. Nintendo Europe posted a tweet noting that demos for Hyrule Warriors Legends are currently available for free on Nintendo 3DS eShop.

The official Nintendo website’s description of the game setting for Hyrule Warriors Legends reads as follows.

“War rages as the delicate balance of the Triforce is disrupted. The kingdom of Hyrule is once again being torn apart by a dark power, this time lead by Sorceress Cia. Now it’s up to the legendary hero Link™ to face hordes of enemies and find the missing Princess Zelda™.”

Players need to progress through the story to be able to unlock new playable characters that each offers unique moves and weapons. Meanwhile, to strengthen skills of each character, gamers need to collect Rupees and other essential items, which will allow them to upgrade craft badges as well as weapons.
