Jordan Smith: ‘The Voice’ Winner Releases Debut Music Video For ‘Stand In The Light’

Jordan Smith recently debuted his music video for his single “Stand in the Light,” which is one of the many songs that will be included on his freshman album Something Beautiful due out on March 18.

“The theater we shot in [Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro, Calif.] was a true gem; you could feel the history in the walls of the auditorium. I feel the video perfectly combines the emotional power of music and dance to reach beyond words and speak to your soul,” Smith told Yahoo! Music. “I am fortunate to have worked with [director] Matt Stawski and such an amazing team to bring the story of this song to life so beautifully.”

Along with his original songs like “Stand in the Light,” Smith’s new album, which is produced by Grammy/Oscar nominee Stephan Moccio, will feature covers of songs like “Over the Rainbow,” “You Are So Beautiful,” “Amazing Grace,” and Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful.”

“We’re almost finished,” Smith said of the album during a February interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I think we can expect it to come out really, really soon, which is a good thing. I’m dying, chomping at the bit, ready to get some new music out for everybody and it’s going to be happening pretty soon this spring.”

Jordan Smith’s music career jump-started when Adam Levine turned his chair during season 9 of The Voice. Many viewers were hooked on Jordan when he sang his rendition of the Christmas song, “Mary Did You Know.” His performance was outstanding and captivated the hearts of millions. Surprisingly, Levine had originally wanted him to sing a different song but decided to trust Smith’s instinct, which ended up winning him the competition. Levine continued to mentor Smith and he has since been there every step of the way.

“Adam and I have been able to stay in touch and he just texts to check in on me sometimes and make sure I’m doing OK,” Smith said. “He hasn’t been a part of the album per se — yet! But he’s definitely been checking in.”

Aside from the release of his album, Smith has other things he is working on as well — one being his upcoming wedding! As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jordan proposed to his girlfriend of three years Kristen Denny over the holidays.

“I just kinda know her like the back of my hand, so I [picked out the ring] myself and figured everything out,” Smith confessed. “Thank God it turned out OK and she liked it!”

It’s only been three months since Jordan proposed, but the happy couple is already planning their wedding, all while Jordan continues to work on his music.

“It’s happening quickly and we’re doing a lot of [the planning] apart right now, just because I’ve been working in the studio like crazy and been in L.A. — but it’s going well,” Smith said. “I think things will probably move pretty quickly.”

Thankfully, Jordan’s fiancé is very supportive of his singing career, and wants him to succeed.

“It’s been really exciting,” Denny said. “This is something that Jordan’s talked about for as long as we’ve been together, so it’s really awesome to get to see him fulfill his dreams.”

Jordan Smith hopes that his music will inspire others, and touch their lives as it has his.

“I want to keep doing music that inspires people; that’s such a part of what I did on the show, and I’m all about music that provokes emotions,” Smith said. “I want to make music that people connect with. I think there are songs out there that when you hear them, they bring you back to a certain place. I want to make music like that. I think I’ve learned on the show just how powerful music can be, when it comes from your heart and means something to you.”
