‘Batman V Superman’ Star Henry Cavill Talks ‘Justice League’ And Reveals Just How Superman Could Lose To Batman

During the Oscars red carpet, Henry Cavill opened up about his highly-anticipated Man of Steel spin-off, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and opened up a little bit about bringing Superman back again in Justice League.

While Batman News reports that Ben Affleck’s bestie, Matt Damon, believes Jason Bourne could take the Cape Crusader in a fight, Cavill thinks that Batman actually stands a chance against Superman. Of course, most fans can’t see the Man of Steel losing to Batman, or anyone for that matter, but according to Cavill, the fight isn’t as unfair as fans may think.

Cavill explained his reasoning, saying that although Superman is basically all powerful and viewed as a god, his love for humanity gives him a major weakness to exploit. “[Superman] loves humanity, he loves human beings, and he doesn’t want to hurt them. And so, Batman has an immediate advantage with that, and you’ll see if he uses it,” Cavill said to MTV News.

The British actor also spoke with E! News while on the red carpet saying, “He has all the powers,” in reference to his character. “And Superman can’t help but love everyone and wants to do the right thing [and]… you know you have the right guy advising you.”

Cavill also admitted to having already watched Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice not once but twice. So what was his opinion of the movie?

“Epic, thrilling and visually spectacular.”

Henry Cavill also revealed that the Justice League will start filming soon, and that “The DC cinematic universe is finally getting its chance to grow in this one.”

While his comments were brief, it still left fans anxious to see how the DC Comics universe will differ from Marvels. It already appears to be a much darker world compared to the Avengers movies which have plenty of lighter elements and humor. But the Dawn of Justice trailers that have been released so far depicts a much grittier world, much like the previous Dark Knight trilogy.

However, while spilling secrets on the red carpet, Cavill was unable to confirm (or deny) the rumors that say Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller will be producing Justice League: Part One, but did tease fans by saying how excited he is about the film after reading the script.

Meanwhile, with this year’s Oscars marking the first time Cavill was at the big show — he presented alongside Kerry Washington for one of the nominations for best film — he admitted that he had the jitters not knowing what to expect from such a big event.

“I was a little nervous about what to expect when I came here, but it’s so busy and there’s so much going on that you don’t feel really exposed as you do at some of the other events,” Cavill said. “I’m really enjoying this. The energy is fantastic. It’s real good fun.”

With a heavy list of actors, including Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg taking on the portrayal of Lex Luthor, Dawn of Justice seems likely to be Warner Bros biggest blockbuster of the year.

Rounding out the list of cast members are Amy Adams, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, and Jean Malone.

So fans, could Jason Bourne really take on the Caped Crusader in a fight, or will Dawn of Justice prove that Batman is capable of taking on much more than the typical Gotham scum – including the godlike Superman? Let us know in the comments below and check out the latest trailer below.
