‘Game of Thrones’ Spoilers: New Cast Members And What They Mean For Season 6

In spite of HBO’s new policy on advanced viewings of Game of Thrones episodes, fan sites have recently reported on new cast members and what spoilers their addition give us for the much-anticipated Season 6.

Spoiler alert: Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers follow. Stop reading now if you don’t wish to read spoilers.

Several months ago, a Game of Thrones casting call was issued that read as follows.

“Lord of Northern Stronghold: The show’s looking for an actor in his late thirties or forties to play another lord, one that’s ruthless and calculating. The frightening lord rules a vassal household with a castle stronghold. He’ll be in 3 episodes this year, with 20 days of filming this summer and fall.”

Watchers on the Wall provided a new Game of Thrones spoiler when they confirmed that this call was for Lord Karstark. In Season 3, Robb Stark beheaded Lord Rickard, prompting the Karstarks to abandon the Starks. Lord Karstark is the heir to the beheaded Rickard. The website for United Agents has reported that their client Paul Rattray has been chosen for this part. In a small variation from the book, the name of this Game of Thrones character has been changed a bit. In another spoiler, his agent’s website states that the name of the character that will be played by Rattray is Harald Karstark instead of Harrion Karstark as he is called in the George R.R. Martin books. We don’t know much about the storyline for this Game of Thrones character, but the casting calls describe him as “ruthless and cunning,” so it’s sure to be great TV.

Winter Is Coming provided two more Game of Thrones spoilers when they reported that two more spots in the cast have been filled. Sadly, the future doesn’t look particularly bright for one of them – Ruairí Heading as “The Green Recruit.” When you think Game of Thrones Green Recruit, think Star Trek red shirts. Not a happy ending for this character probably. The poor fella probably has a very short life in Season 6, as the casting call said he would have one line and film for one day.

And the last of the Game of Thrones spoilers related to new cast members is for a child. The character’s name is Francis. Annette Hannah will fill this role. Her performing arts school proudly announced the news. It’s not known what will happen with Francis in Game of Thrones Season 6, but Annette mentioned the wonderful experience she had with Lena Headey (Cersei), Anton Lesser (Pycelle), and Julian Glover (Qyburn) so we know she’ll be in King’s Landing. Here’s hoping she won’t be ill-fated as well, although nothing is off limits with Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones Season 6 begins on April 24, and it can’t get here soon enough. HBO has released some of its own spoilers and has fanned the flames of Jon Snow theories. We don’t have a full trailer yet, but we do have some teaser videos. Here’s the most recent.

As reported by the Inquisitr, recent statements by Game of Thrones cast members provide more spoilers that indicate that Jon Snow is indeed dead at the end of Season 5, but that he may be resurrected by Melisandre. We’ve also had Game of Thrones spoilers that indicate that, in a storyline that has already happened in the George R.R. Martin books, Lady Catelyn Stark may return as one of the undead this season.

The search continues for Game of Thrones spoilers, and it will continue right up until HBO airs the new season on April 24. Game of Thrones has been on the air since 2011. Among its awards are a 12 Primetime Emmys in 2015.
